Excellent food in nice environment wth great service

Birthday dinner for wife while visiting Providence. Chicken cacciatore and veal parmesan with salad. Excellent service - waiter helped wife navigate to a generally gluten-free meal. Top notch experience.

Wonderful food at a surprisingly reasonable price. Professional wait staff. I had the Veal Steak which was cooked medium rare perfectly. The mushroom and sauce was great.

We had 10 people there for lunch. My first time here. We started with some bread, then our soup came. I had the chicken escarole which was good. My main dish was spaghetti and meatballs. It too was good. For dessert we had an ice cream roll that was pretty good. The prices for lunch were very good. You get... More

The Old Canteen is located in a lovely, historic-looking building. The inside is prettily decorated in pink, in an old-world style. The service was good, and the lunch-menu prices were fairly good values. The food was OK, an opinion shared by everyone in my party.

Everything here is made from scratch. Sal, the owner buys most of his ingredients daily from the farmers market. The food quality is great, the food is delicious, the selection of menu items is extensive, the service is excellent. Be sure to order the garlic bread as it is the best I've had. They grill it on an open flame,... More

This is located right at the beginning of Atwells Avenue where there are lots of Italian restaurants. We went for Lunch. The decor is pink everywhere which is ok unless you don't like pink. The place had an older feel to it. The lunch menu gives you a choice of soup, entree, and dessert. Soup was Pasta Fazul or Chicken.... More

Unless you are a regular or have a large party where staff will have incentive to wait on you do NOT go here. I brought my 80 year old mother here (because unfortunately Camille's was closed) on a Sunday night at 5 pm.We were going to eat at the bar. We waited twenty minutes before the bartender took our drink... More

The Friday night crowd meant that our reservation for 8:15 ran a little late and the service was more than a little slow, but the food was worth it. The antipasto platter was adequate, bu the shrimp scampi was divine, the veal saltimbocca was a tender melt in your mouth creation, and the native scallops were heavenly. The decor truly... More
