Café Paragon in Providence was first to open it’s doors in 1994. We started serving our valued guests in a friendly European Bistro/Café style atmosphere with a comfortable 32 seats, full bar, and a limited menu. In 1997 we expanded to create Viva offering a more sophisticated dining experience including Mediterranean Mezes, specialized martinis, and extended bar selections in our comfortable lounge. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms with club music. Over the years we have won several awards in RI Monthly and the Providence Pheonix, among them for Best Burgers, Best Salad and Best Octopus and in addition we have been written up in several publications such as Yankee Magazine Travel, Providence Journal, and Vanity Fair.

Decent American Food

Cafe Paragon has very decent-good tasting food. The location is good, 5 minutes from Brown. Good food for anyone stopping by.

We were seated and then completely ignored with waitresses chatting it up and milling about we were completely invisible. Finally after waiting a good twenty minutes (and it wasn't crowded or busy) we got up and left. Management needs a wake-up call. Unbelievable.

Grad student and veteran of Providence for seven years, I remember loving Paragon for the first few years I lived here; the eggplant dip and the rigatoni al forni were to die for. However, I think they began changing their recipes and the quality of the food has massively gone down. It started out gradually, a couple of visits where... More

As I only signed up on tripadvisor now, I am only making a review of this place now. Place is great, I spent some of the best years of my life here. Food was just perfect, loved the lobster Mac and cheese and the calamari. Price was good, in line with expectations. Location is also great as it it's in... More

This place sits in the middle of Brown college campus and anyone who goes in here expecting a fine dining meal should reconsider. Any negative review here seems to be mislead as to what this place is going for in terms of scene, food, and service styles. The staff, mostly pretty girls and lively bartenders, are pleasant, attentive, and excellent... More

Paragon is a great place to meet friends for a drink or dinner or just to relax over good, value priced food

Enjoyed a night out to have a very good home cooked meal. The restaurant was unpretentious, service was good and we had generous helpings in a comfortable atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable for being close to Brown University. Would go again!

I've eaten here a few times now, and always had a great experience. The food is always delicious with interesting specials and regular menu items. Service is always fast and friendly.

Dingy restaurant/cafe with unpleasant decor and un-inviting atmosphere. Waitress had an attitude and forcefully slapped down menus and bill. Food very mediocre. My fries tasted awful and were cold. After complaining and having to request a refund this was reluctantly sorted. Coffee was also barely luke warm. Very disappointing and not recommended.

We hit the brunch buffet at Paragon. The service was great, cool joint, neat part of College Hill area across the Brown Book Store. There was variety, and a made-to-order pasta and omelet station. The scrambled eggs were that solid chunk that you sort of spoon-slice your eggs out of, the hoe fries were okay, but nothing exciting. A lot... More
