Description: Café Paragon in Providence was first to open it’s doors in 1994. We started serving our valued guests in a friendly European Bistro/Café style atmosphere with a comfortable 32 seats, full bar, and a limited menu. In 1997 we expanded to create Viva offering a more sophisticated dining experience including Mediterranean Mezes, specialized martinis, and extended bar selections in our comfortable lounge. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms with club music. Over the years we have won several awards in RI Monthly and the Providence Pheonix, among them for Best Burgers, Best Salad and Best Octopus and in addition we have been written up in several publications such as Yankee Magazine Travel, Providence Journal, and Vanity Fair.

We sat outside on a warm night. Good corner for people watching. Food was hearty, flavorful and large portions. Seemed to be an unusually good value, geared to the college area. The scallops appetizer had 5 scallops which is more than most entrees. Good lobster mac. Server was super friendly.

I have been here several times for a couple of drinks and to sample the different foods. This establishment primarily caters to the local college kids. The invitingly elegant interior and appealing exterior along energetic Thayer Street is deceptive considering the food quality is at par with what one would find at an average pub. This is a decent place... More

The tables were not clean, falling apart and it just looks beaten up and unsavory. On top of that one of the ovens was broken so no pizzas. We walked out.

Went there for the first time for brunch. The selection was varied and the food tasty. They did have an issue with keeping enough cold plates available(vs the warmed plates, which no one wants to use for cold food such as salad/fruit, etc.) It was very busy. There was a child around 4years old there coughing in direct line with... More

Went there a couple of times for birthdays, they have a large menu with a selection of succulent burgers all reasonably priced- the last one i had was goat cheese, bacon and beef burger with fries. The veggies, and bread is always fresh. There are fancier entrees that looked delicious however you have to be willing to spend a bit... More

My daughter loves this place and says she comes here often for lunch and we went for dinner. She is gluten intolerant so they made her grilled veggies and cauliflower and plain grilled chicken. She enjoyed it all. I ordered the beet arugala salad that was very good and the shrimp scampi that I also enjoyed. The service was fast... More

We used a groupon voucher for our dinner and am so glad we selected Paragon. We ended up sitting at the bar. Bartender was friendly and attentive. Wish they had been slightly more professional in however they conversed with each other in front of the customers but once the food arrived that was easily forgotten. The duck and sesame scallops... We ate there before a Brown hockey game and found everything very good. Our waitress was attentive and informed. I had a Thai chicken wrap that was excellent. My husband had clam chowder, very, very good, and a Panini, Everything was well prepared, the atmosphere was not college town youth oriented but classic and unpretentious. I would return often.

Pretty good food with decent service. My wife's wrap was superb. My burger was tasty but had a mas produced look and flavor to it. Beer selection left a lot to be desired. I was impressed with their extensive menu and very reasonable prices. Staff in the area of the bar/restaurant where we dined were very noisy, practically hollering to... More
