Café Paragon in Providence was first to open it’s doors in 1994. We started serving our valued guests in a friendly European Bistro/Café style atmosphere with a comfortable 32 seats, full bar, and a limited menu. In 1997 we expanded to create Viva offering a more sophisticated dining experience including Mediterranean Mezes, specialized martinis, and extended bar selections in our comfortable lounge. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms with club music. Over the years we have won several awards in RI Monthly and the Providence Pheonix, among them for Best Burgers, Best Salad and Best Octopus and in addition we have been written up in several publications such as Yankee Magazine Travel, Providence Journal, and Vanity Fair.

Excellent Food

My daughter and I ate here after a tour of Brown. She had the margarita pizza and I had a California wrap with baked sweet potato. The food was wonderful. The service was good, but the waitress sometimes disappeared for long periods. Our bill was $25.

Was visiting the area, when we decided to stop in for lunch. Brunch assortment pretty good. Quality of the food, not bad. Flow of the setup, awful. Service, not terrible, but not terrific either.

*We didn't eat at the restaurant so keep in mind this review is of the dance club. My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate my 21st birthday. We came in through the cafe, got carded, and waited for ten minutes with no service. We just gave up then went into the club and tried to grab a drink at... More

Attending my brother's graduation at Brown, we stopped at Paragon & Viva for their "Graduation" buffet brunch. It was downright awful. They offered a variety of entirely unappetizing hot and cold standard breakfast/brunch dishes. Nothing seemed fresh or freshly made, nothing tasted good. The ambience is drab. Service was decent and polite, but what good is it when you cannot... More

Service better at Mc Donalds, sitting at bar couldn't get a drink. Staff inattentive and the place was empty at 2pm. Food was eh at best salad came out without goat cheese, hummus an falafel app doesn't include pita. There are much better Places to go in Providence

On graduation weekend 6 of us attempted to go to VIVA at 4pm on Saturday for drinks. We entered the open door at VIVA and requested a table but were told to see the Host next door at Paragon, He refused to seat us at A TABLE STATING THE TABLES WERE FOR MEALS. hE IGNORED ME WHEN i TOLD HIM... More

We were seated and then completely ignored with waitresses chatting it up and milling about we were completely invisible. Finally after waiting a good twenty minutes (and it wasn't crowded or busy) we got up and left. Management needs a wake-up call. Unbelievable.

Cafe Paragon has very decent-good tasting food. The location is good, 5 minutes from Brown. Good food for anyone stopping by.

Grad student and veteran of Providence for seven years, I remember loving Paragon for the first few years I lived here; the eggplant dip and the rigatoni al forni were to die for. However, I think they began changing their recipes and the quality of the food has massively gone down. It started out gradually, a couple of visits where... More
