Description: Café Paragon in Providence was first to open it’s doors in 1994. We started serving our valued guests in a friendly European Bistro/Café style atmosphere with a comfortable 32 seats, full bar, and a limited menu. In 1997 we expanded to create Viva offering a more sophisticated dining experience including Mediterranean Mezes, specialized martinis, and extended bar selections in our comfortable lounge. On weekend nights the restaurant transforms with club music. Over the years we have won several awards in RI Monthly and the Providence Pheonix, among them for Best Burgers, Best Salad and Best Octopus and in addition we have been written up in several publications such as Yankee Magazine Travel, Providence Journal, and Vanity Fair.

I've eaten here a few times now, and always had a great experience. The food is always delicious with interesting specials and regular menu items. Service is always fast and friendly.

Dingy restaurant/cafe with unpleasant decor and un-inviting atmosphere. Waitress had an attitude and forcefully slapped down menus and bill. Food very mediocre. My fries tasted awful and were cold. After complaining and having to request a refund this was reluctantly sorted. Coffee was also barely luke warm. Very disappointing and not recommended.

We hit the brunch buffet at Paragon. The service was great, cool joint, neat part of College Hill area across the Brown Book Store. There was variety, and a made-to-order pasta and omelet station. The scrambled eggs were that solid chunk that you sort of spoon-slice your eggs out of, the hoe fries were okay, but nothing exciting. A lot... More

We was in Providence to visit our Son at Brown University. We ate at several restaurants. When we went to Paragon, I ordered the fish stew. It was amazing. The best I ever had. My wife got the Turkey Club. We also ordered the Brie and the Fillet Mignon Sliders for appetizers. Everything was excellent. The presentation was perfect and... More

We sat outside on a warm night. Good corner for people watching. Food was hearty, flavorful and large portions. Seemed to be an unusually good value, geared to the college area. The scallops appetizer had 5 scallops which is more than most entrees. Good lobster mac. Server was super friendly.

I have been here several times for a couple of drinks and to sample the different foods. This establishment primarily caters to the local college kids. The invitingly elegant interior and appealing exterior along energetic Thayer Street is deceptive considering the food quality is at par with what one would find at an average pub. This is a decent place... More

The tables were not clean, falling apart and it just looks beaten up and unsavory. On top of that one of the ovens was broken so no pizzas. We walked out.

Went there for the first time for brunch. The selection was varied and the food tasty. They did have an issue with keeping enough cold plates available(vs the warmed plates, which no one wants to use for cold food such as salad/fruit, etc.) It was very busy. There was a child around 4years old there coughing in direct line with... More

Went there a couple of times for birthdays, they have a large menu with a selection of succulent burgers all reasonably priced- the last one i had was goat cheese, bacon and beef burger with fries. The veggies, and bread is always fresh. There are fancier entrees that looked delicious however you have to be willing to spend a bit... More
