Good food, Poor Service

I enjoyed the Food here quite a bit, but that didn't null the fact that I felt rushed during the entire meal. Al Forno doesn't take reservations, so you needed to get there before 4 if you wanted a table. I ordered an appetizer, ate it, order an entree, ate it, and ordered a dessert, and ate it... read more

The original in wood fire pizza. perfect this crust that you can taste the fire smoked flavor in it. They do not overdo it with the sauce, and plenty of toppings. This is by far the best pizza I've ever had. The one time I've pulled away from the pizza was to order a grilled Delmonico steak with a sweet... More

My husband and I have been here 4 or 5 times, and it went lower and lower on the satisfaction scale each time. First of all I don't like being treated like they are doing me a favor by giving me a table. And that's the attitude we felt from the hostess and it continued with the server, snooty, un-engaging... We’ve eaten at Al Forno at least half a dozen times over the years, and it’s always been the same experience: raised expectations based on the inventive menu and interesting off-menu specials, then good (not consistently great) food, okay service, long waits for a table, and sky high prices. After our last visit, we decided that it’s not worth the... More

WOW,here in little Rhode Island we have jewel of a place where fine food rules. Family owned, small in size, this place just keeps turning out the best food you can get. a great staff in the kitchen, out front, and a hand picked wait staff that seems to know what goes into every dish. presented in a grand manor the meals always amaze... If you stick with the pizza and the other well-known items, such as dirty steak or the dessert tarts, you will love it. If you stray beyond these items you may or may not be happy. Service is generally good: I've been half-a-dozen times and only one visit involved less-that-stellar service. I'll definitely be back, for pizza.

Nothing special to say - high prices and very ordinary tastes.. Smaller portions and just generally let down by the experience. R I has tons of better dining at far less expensive prices

Al Forno is the place to go when visiting Providence. This was the first around to offer the wood grilled pizzas, and it remains the best. Their attention to detail will leave you satisfied and wanting to come back. The meals are always seasonal and fabulous, not to mention the made to order desserts! Get there early. They get full... Al Forno did a nice job of a fine dining experience for us during our brief stay in Providence, Rhode Island. Even though we are vegetarians, my daughter and I enjoyed the pasta and the unique Eggplant. Wine selection was broad and exquisite. Services were legendary.
