Great food, make a reservation

The food was great! I had the elk chops - the risotto was the star of the dish. My husband loved his mountain man meatloaf. My only complaint was that we had a reservation but still had to wait a while (there seemed to be plenty of open tables?) and other people who came without a reservation were... read more

Great food, tasty beer, attentive service, and lovely views. In our two visits, we had fish and chips, elk chop, mountain man meatloaf, and other great dishes served in a timely manner - never rushed, just right. The Hop To It IPA was quite good and everyone enjoyed the visits. We had a reservation for one visit and were seated... More

Almost didn't come to Tavern 1929...but...we did and from start to finish our experience was delightful! Anne was our server and she was fantastic!...drink order and appetizer served in a timely manner and thank you Anne for the extra chips for the crab dip! Starter salads...ice cold and fresh ingredients...entrees of fish and chips, meat loaf and lasagna rolls...fresh, hot... More

A little off the beaten path, but worth the effort. When I asked if there were a lot of mushrooms in the chicken marsala, our waiter asked the chef to leave them. Good food, amazing views.

Our experience got off to a bad start when the hostess asked if we had a reservation. Since we had been told at our hotel one was not necessary, we said "no". The hostess said "this is Estes Park, you need a reservation in every restaurant". She then said "I'll see what I can do". In about a minute she... More

My parents ate at the Mary's Lodge Restaurant over 20 years ago and loved it. Now called Tavern 1929, our family of four had a very similar experience. Our waitress was amazing and, although pricey, the food was excellent. My husband really enjoyed the flights of locally-crafted beer and the view was nice. Mary's Lake is currently being drained so... More

My husband and I had a late lunch here on July 4th weekend. On Yelp it was called Big Beaver Brewing... but they are now under new ownership and it's called Tavern 1929. There's not a lot of signage so it was a bit confusing and hard to find. Anyway! We found it! Got seated in the big back room.... More

My husband had the cornmeal/pecan trout. I liked the sound of that, but don't like trout, so I asked if I could substitute chicken. Our waiter, Seth, was happy to check and the kitchen was able to accommodate my request. Both meals were delicious!! Seth took great care of us, even thought the place was packed. He didn't rush us,... More

Stumbled across this gem in a vintage hotel/inn. Had a wonderful experience, great local beer selection and a much more extensive menu than I would have expected. I had a wonderful meatloaf, my wife had a striped bass special that was great as well. Plenty of options for the kids as well. Lovely view from the porch. Strongly recommend as... More

Good news: lovely view from our porch table. Cute waiter but he struggled with iPad ordering system and had to check with kitchen to answer multiple questions. Just right baked potato. Bad news: trout (bland), cheese mashed potatoes (over cooked). Brussel sprouts -- oily, oily, over cooked. Chicken fried steak (my husband had upset stomach for 12 hours). Won't be... More
