It took a while for the waitress to make her way to us and with four tired and restless kids it was not a good start. But the waitress was sweet and the service turned out awesome. Kids calmed down after they food in their tummies. I had the fish and chips and they tasted so fresh like the restaurant... More

Had to ask three times for Tabasco sauce for my husband's clam chowder, which took over 15 min. Then we waited almost an hour for the rest of our meal. Over priced for the quality and quantity of food.

This is a glorified fish and chips place trying to behave like a fine dining restaurant, based solely on it's ocean view. The cod was fine but overpriced. My son seemed to like his prime rib however but it looked small and fatty to me. The vegetables were frozen/boiled but the fries were fine. If it were a fish shack... More

We just got back about an hour ago from the Harbor View Grotto and want to forewarn anyone else about to dine there. We stopped there after a ten hour drive because the AAA book raved about the place. What a disappointment! My girlfriend got the grilled salmon and I got the prawns and scallops. This is our take on... More

I had fresh snapper caught the same day and it was fabulous and the onion rings may have been the best I have ever had. My husband had fish & chips and he is a connoisseur of those. He said they were "above average." Service was quite good, views of campground were a negative.

We stopped for a quick lunch after not finding much else. Our "quick" lunch turned into 1 1/2 hours... The service was extremely slow!! They would disappear for 10 minutes when they were just going to get something we had asked for and in the end we ended up walking up to the counter to pay our check because it... More

The Chart Room was recommended by locals and had good reviews so that is where we went to eat but they were closed on Mondays and it was our last night in town. So the Grotto was our 2nd choice for seafood. thought it would be a little fancier than it was. It was very disappointing. 1. The food was... More

This second floor restaurant, as advertised, has a great view of the harbor and kite flying and a less than great view of a trailer park. From the seafood-oriented menu we selected a lunch special of half a sandwich and soup...crab meat and chowder. Both were delicious. The tuna salad sandwich was very good and came with onion rings, as... More

We were hoping to get a good seafood meal. Almost every seafood entree was fried so we passed on the seafood. The prime-rib was good as well as the accompanying dishes. Nothing was extraordinary, but it was a good satisfying meal. The service was good but the view was disappointing. The view was of a light industrial area. If you... More

I have to admit, I had not visited the Harbor View Grotto in Crescent City for a long time. Had memories from the past, new places coming onto town, just lack of desire. Had dinner date with Shanna. We had an excellent meal. Service was fantastic from Lori, of Glenn's Bakery fame, and picture perfect day to view the ocean... More
