Nice atmosphere, good food

The sun sets right outside this restaurant about 10 minutes from the popular Kohala hotels. It's a nice place with good food, comfortable seating and good service. Prices are reasonable and there is something for everyone on the menu. The bread was freshly baked and all the food is fresh. I ordered... read more

This was by far the best meal we had on our trip. We had to wait for a table, but it was well worth the wait. The salads were fresh and tasty. I had pizza -- excellent -- and my husband had a pasta dish -- also excellent. Our only regret is that we wished we could have eaten there... More

This restaurant was recommend to us by a Kona local and we were glad we made the drive up the coast. It's not a large place but the staff was attentive and when we stopped for a late lunch it was not crowded mid-week. I had the Hakalau ( Kalua turkey, spinach, onions, cranberry-mango chutney on garlic French bread) and... More

We LOVE this restaurant and make the trek from the Mauna Lani to go for dinner. We have kids in tow and they are always satisfied and each of us finds something scrumptious to eat. The cocktails are not bad either. It's a guaranteed great dining experience! No spectacular view or location really, but so worth it!!

We have eaten at Cafe Pesto (in Kawaihae and Hilo) with friends and family over the years and have never had a bad experience. The service and the food are always excellent. I always order a local Mehana ale with my favorite, the Miloli'i Sandwich, which is garlic basted shrimp, pacific crab, sliced mushrooms, and blended cheeses on French bread.... More

Cafe Pesto is consistently delicious. We often eat here for lunch and especially dinner when we visit the Kohala Coast. The pizzas, salads, and Hawaiian style pulled turkey (like pulled pork) are all very very good! The service is wonderful and they do take-out so you can bring your pizza to Kawaihae Harbor to watch the sunset. It is way... More

If you are staying north of Kona on the Big Island it is definitely worth dining at Cafe Pesto. Good pasta, pizza and specials. Service was excellent on our recent visit a couple of days ago. Very good wine list.

I love this little place, the food has always been excellent for us with exceptional service. Had the wok fired shrimp and the shrimp were very fresh and the dish light with exceptional flavor. Staff were excellent even though the place was packed and they have a good wine selection for Hawaii.

Really, this is a pizza place and the pizza is very good. Crabcakes also very good. Tried seared ahi on a salad and they just didn't sear the ahi correctly so would not order that again. Prices are very reasonable. Lunch may be a better option then dinner.
