Great Food Across From Shipyard!!!

My wife found Cafe Pesto on Open Table and we are so glad she did. Forget that it is across the street from the loading docks with a cargo ship and conex boxes. This place is a gem. I had the fish of the day sandwich as and loved it. The fish was fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. We shared... read more

Excellent food with delightful servers. Party of six on Wednesday night. Busy night, but the place is a well-oiled machine. Enjoyed selections from their excellent appetizer menu. Main entrees were relatively expensive, but definitely worth the price. The ribs are WAY above average. Desserts are not to be missed. I think we tried them all. Go and have a great... More

The food and service were excellent. We drove all the way from South Kona to enjoy as we had on a previous trip and we were not disappointed. Had to go back a second time!

We never come to Kona without making a trip up the coast to Cafe Pesto in Kawaihae. Nice menu with local fish specials, sandwiches, salads and delicious pizza. There can be a wait at busy times, but well worth it. Staff is friendly and helpful. Well stocked bar with local specials. We never miss an opportunity to make the drive... More

Cafe Pesto has two locations on the Big Island - Kawaihae and Hilo. Both have the same excellent menu. The Kawaihae location is the one we are most familiar with. They use local ingredients to create unusual and tasty pizza combinations. The seafood is fresh (not frozen) and will melt in your mouth. My husband and son could make a... More

Great place, lots of creative dishes to choose from. Fresh, farm to table concept. Drinks were also good. Busy place, frequented by locals. We didn't have reservations, so ate at the bar.

We have been coming to Cafe Pesto for about 10 years. Our experience with the staff has been inconsistent. On most visits, they are engaging and strive to meet your dining expectations. Other times, it seems as though they could not care less. During our most recent visit, my wife informed me that a couple left because they could not... More

First off, our server, Benjamin, was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the menu, and even where certain foods came from on the island. He was great! The restaurant is in a more industrial area, and not too much to offer view wise. However, the atmosphere and eating area was very nice. To start off, I had the Wild Mushroom... More

This is a nice semi-casual restaurant. Good food, reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. If I were still in Hawaii I would go there regularly. Highly recommended.

I had eaten so much fish on this vacation because you have to take advantage of the great selection available in Hawaii! But enough with the fish! I was ready for pizza! It was fabulous! Everything homemade and a very nice selection of different varieties. Of course, you could also get the norm, but why not try something different? I... More
