The place is highly praised and clearly popular, but this is not the one to go for a gourmet meal or ambiance. Good, honest food efficiently served in a family style atmosphere. The place was packed and we had to wait 15 mins even with a reservation, but it is not a big deal. Once we were seated, the food... More

Four of us went here for dinner and we all enjoyed two shared desserts -- a coconut tart and a large chocolate macadamia-nut cookie. But everything else was rather average fare. I ordered a half portion of mahi mahi, which consisted of two bites. I wondered what size a full portion would be. Flavorless rice covered most of my plate.... More

We were staying in Waikoloa and heard about this restaurant in Kawaihae so we went for my husbands birthday. There were 6 of us. The service was exceptionally fast , friendly and professional. The menu was extensive but not overwhelmingly so, the choices of dinner dishes were delectable. Everything about this dinner was delicious. Not one complaint.....it is not a... More

We returned to Cafe Pesto for lunch during our recent Big Island vacation and found the food to be just as good as last year. Crab cakes were a hit as was the fresh mahi mahi sandwich. Nice selection of island beers too! The restaurant appears to draw as many locals as tourists which is always a good sign.

This is a nice place when you are in the north end of the gold coast. The wait staff are really nice and friendly. The food was a little slow to come out but I guess I just have to move on to Island Time. Despite the wait our sandwiches were all really tasty and unique. Theirs pizza also looks... More

The coconut crusted calamari is the best we've ever had. we love coming here whenever we're on the island. The lilikoi Arnold Palmer is delicious also.

Stopped in as we were hungry and out running errands. Only place we could find that was open that afternoon. Yummy food and beautiful atmosphere.

This is our standby for a great lunch and we usually visit at least a few times during our trip. Good variety of items and nothing disappoints from the pizza to the fish sandwiches...and the potato salad that comes with the sandwiches is especially delicious. The location does leave much to be desired but the prices are reasonable and the... More
