Good Food With a View of the Harbor

Following a killer snorkeling trip to Mahukona (see my other review or google jeff hill kona snorkeling) our new best friends took us to the Seafood Bar in Kawaihae. Kawaihae is one of only two deep water ports on the Big Island. Were it not for its location close to the swanky Kohala... read more

The food was excellent, however our waitress was for lack of a better word horrible! We waited 45 minutes for her to pick up the checks, we finally had to take the check to her. the entire visit she was no where to be seen and when she finally showed up I felt that she held a strong dislike for... We are locals and love trying out new restaurants. Went here to check it out for lunch. I can't tell you the last time that we went to a restaurant where everything was just outstanding. The owner came over to make sure that all was great and ended up chatting about his chef since I am an ex-hotelier and I... More

We've heard about this spot, and the poke burger was supposed to be ridiculously good. We came for lunch on Saturday. It's definitely more of a bar then a grill. I have 3 kids, and there was no kids menu. Second we came at 1:45 pm so we couldn't order from the 2:30 menu. So guaranteed we couldn't order off... More

I'm giving Seafood Bar & Grill a "5" for being special for what it is--A Tiki Bar! Okay, it doesn't have a view; you have read that. It is in Kawaihae, two miles north of Mauna Kea Beach Resort. Guess what-it has great fresh fish in a real Tiki atmosphere. Hey, after sunset, what you going to see outside anyway... More

Definitely the place to go for a great meal. Lots of variety including seafood and non seafood dishes. All very well prepared and very tasty!

Convenient location after diving at Puako and right down the road from our favorite shave ice place. Started with the seared poke, which at first looked overcooked, but was actually marinated and cooked to perfection - wish I'd just ordered that as my entree! My husband had the fish sandwich, which was a bit small and he said tasted pretty... More

This place has really good food and the prices aren't bad compared to other restaurants on this side of the island but to be honest, don't go there for the views. You will be disappointed. If you are in the area (there is much to do in Kawaihae) stop in and try it out. You will enjoy the food and... More

Overall a pretty good place that should not disappoint. Don't let the structure and decor form your opinion. This is a relaxed part of the Big Island. Tuesday nights' feature a Smoked Prime Rib Special. I needed 3 bites to process this…..First bite I thought I was having Brisket but the meat was too good, 2nd bite I was waiting... More

In all honesty the view sucks!! But if you are on this end of the Island taking in some beach time you might want to try this place. Again the view is noting to right home about unless you like looking at fuel storage tanks and maybe watching a ship unload..Skip all that and enjoy a good lunch. I had... More
