Lunch break after visiting Place of Refuge

Enjoyable meal. Fresh fish on special of the day. Appreciated the Lanai being outback and away from traffic on highway. Friendly family run cafe with nice personal service and good food.

Definitely stop here for coffee if you're driving past! The ambience is amazing, especially if there is a slight drizzle. They grow the coffee right next door. The pros: * Great ambience! Definitely choose a table outside. * Good coffee, and a menu with decent variety. * Friendly staff. * Clean restroom (probably the only clean one in miles).

The food was delicious. I suggest the hot chocolate and a breakfast wrap. The lovely ladies working were so kind to us. They let us charge our phones well after we should have left. They also very kindly provided us with the wifi password. We ended up coming back.

I went twice for breakfast and once for lunch and was more than satisfied each time. Chatted with Matthew, the owner, who is very friendly and found the lanai tables a great place to relax. Breakfast was oatmeal one day, quiche with a side of eggs and bacon another, and a delicious hugh crunchy veggie sandwich with awesome hawaiian potato... More

Stumbled by this place while out exploring the island on a very short week long vacation that we are depressed is now over. We ended up stopping back here numerous times in the morning after swimming, and snorkeling. Love that I was asked if I wanted regular ice, or coffee ice cubes in my iced Americano. Starbucks isn't going to... More

We came here for lunch after kayaking in Cook's Bay and the food was okay...really limited menu. My biggest complaint was that it was unreasonably slow. I get that we are on 'island time' but this simple lunch took two over hours. 40 minutes of that was waiting to get our check(which never happened we had to go find them... More

We stopped here for lunch after amazing snorkeling at Two Step Beach and sat outside on the lanai. It is very casual place and while service was a bit on the slow side, the wait staff was friendly and helpful. My macadamia nut veggie burger was absolutely delicious and so full of macadamia nuts that my jaw was tired from... More

Of the great coffee available near Kona, this was the best. The food was so good we ended up eating here four times in our week stay near Honaunau. Great portions of creatively prepared organic meals. As a committed carnivore, I was stunned by the flavor of the macadamia nut veggie burger, but every meal was a treat.

We ate here twice, once after being starved from hours of snorkeling down at Two Step, and another just passing thru. The food here is fresh, well cooked and delicious and plentiful. We sat out on the covered lanai, and enjoyed the warm air and watching geckos wander about. Needless to say the coffee here is divine! Hubby liked his... More
