The Kona Coffeehouse and Cafe serves good food. I had a veggie burger with mac nuts that was both different and good. But the lilikoi dessert (passion fruit) was exceptional. I consider myself something of an experienced dessert taster and this gets 6 stars: shortbread crust and about 2 inches of lilikoi filling with the barest sprinkle of powdered sugar.... More

We were looking for a place to grab a bite after visiting 2 Step and City of Refuge. Location at the top of road connecting to the highway was a plus, so stopped in. Good parking access ( a plus at a roadside Cafe). Staff were welcoming and willingly engaged in easy conversation. We all ordered from the specials list,... More

It was by chance that we came across this restaurant for our lunch. The employees are very nice and they advised us their specialty ; The Macnut Burger.. It is the best lunch EVER!!

Great food, great service. Very home like cooking and environment. Bring cash. You can't leave a tip on a card.

We stopped in for a quick bite on an early run into Kona from Naalehu. Coffee was good. We shared a piece of quiche and a breakfast wrap. The quiche was tasty and had a crisp crust not soggy. The breakfast wrap was very good served with salsa on the side. The server was pleasant and service attentive. Prices were... More

Each year when we visit The Big Island, we get up early and go snorkeling then settle in for a good breakfast afterwards. We have always stopped at The Coffee Shack, but it has gotten so popular that it is such a hassle to park now that they will not let you park across the street. We pulled this up... More

One waitress and one helper tried to take care of 10 tables during Sunday brunch resulting in inattentive service. Average food overall. Nice, dense, cakey scone with chunks of mango, not too sweet, very tasty. French toast made with sweet hawaiian bread, with powdered sugar and syrup was too sweet. Eggs/toast/potatoes were ordinary, the potatoes were soft, not tasty and... More

We stopped here for lunch while staying near Honaunau. The menu is limited at lunch, not much to choose from. I had a burger, while my wife had the veggie wrap. Both meals were ok, but not fabulous. Service was slow, but not terrible. Overall, a very average experience. Parking lot is tiny, very crowded. Be careful.

Whenever anyone asks me where to go on the big island, I always mention this place. We had made a stop here for lunch and it was outstanding. A few days later, I was driving by myself when it started to rain -- and I couldn't put the top up. Luckily I was near the café and pulled in; within... More

We had just left a park nearby and were hungry and saw this place and stopped by. I am so glad we did! We had wanted breakfast and they had some great options. I got the french toast and it was very yummy. The prices weren't bad and the service was great. They warned us ahead of time they had... More
