Quirky little neighborhood coffee shop! My husband owns a local coffee shop/restaurant in our area, which now means we check out other locals when on vacation. MTC was the first on our list. Initially we weren't sure whether to stop, but beware of judging a book by the cover. This is a very small shop (think one car garage), with... More

This is truly a neighborhood coffee house in a largely residential neighborhood. They have some food that is brought in -- rolls, pastries, etc. -- but the excellent coffee is their forte. The place is cozy but the clients, largely from the neighborhood, is friendly. There is outdoor seating scattered around.

Though the coffee and espresso at Michaels is fine. Not exceptional by any means. The store is packed with few chairs a few tables and customers like a can of sardines. Not relaxing. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

Great coffee and didn't look at me funny when I asked for a dry cappuccino. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they looked amazing!

went there with my wife recently. this is a classic neighborhood coffeehouse; but unlike most, it is actually in the middle of a residential neighborhood away from other commercial activity. it is in a compound with other culturally related businesses on an anonymous street in south eastern Albuquerque. the buildout is sweet, with an intimate indoors and a lovely patio... Yes I've been known to abuse the superlative but I am a coffee geek. In my travels, I search out the local coffee scene and I've yet to find one that comes close to Michael Thomas. It rates tops in my opionion in all the categories that matter when it comes to coffee joints. First, the roaster is right there... More

I'm a local and stumbled upon Michael Thomas shortly after it opened. I bought a pound of organic, Fair Trade, whole bean coffee. I really, really liked it. Months later, when MT was closed and I needed coffee, I bought a bag from my previous local favorite. When I got home, I compared the beans and went "Wow! No wonder... More

This place is crawling with locals soaking in the Albuquerque morning sun. If you're near Nob Hill and want a coffee -- stop by this independent coffee shop and coffee roaster. Michael Thomas Coffee would be a contender even here in Seattle. I bought some Espresso to take home and it is rich and sweet -- not bitter. I'm thinking... More
