We live in the area of Casa Benevidas and we eat here often. The food is excellent. Sometimes, we will admit, they have "staff problems" , but, that happens anywhere. Most of the time it is a very pleasant experience with the best chili in town. more

This is local cuisine at it's best, Went there during the Balloon Fiesta one afternoon after asking a local where we'd find the best example of New Mexican cuisine and we found everything to our liking. If you like good sloppy hamburgers, try the Sopapilla Burger. Interesting and good. Service was good and the timing was nice and unrushed. more

We encountered the same problem with the hostess as others did when we came in. She did not greet us or even seem to care that we came in. We sat down, got our chips and salsa, and waited for some friends. We ate most of the chips by the time they came and the waiter never offered us anymore... more

I will never go to this restraunt again. The hostess was rude and very inconsiderate, which made our visit bad from the start. The Watiress refused to split the checks even though she would have probably got a higher tip and a wonderful review instead of a bad one. I live just down the street from this ABQ North Valley institution. The ambience is unmatched in the area- lush cottonwoods and a wonderful outdoor garden to dine in. Mr. Benavides still makes the famous salsa every day. That said, you are payting about $3 a plate for the ambience and reputation. The food used to be worth it but... more

i live in Phoenix but travel to Albuquerque monthly. I have had the pleasure of sampling many of the fine "southwestern cuisine" restaurants.
