I know why it's crowded

This bustling hole in the wall is one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The enchiladas and chile rellenos are among the best I have ever eaten. This place is packed, and I understand why. It's just great.

This is a little gem off I 40 and all the Carlisle street hotels. Absolutely best relleno I've had and the sopapillos were fantastic. Seemed to have a large local clientele and I can understand why. Beats any food I have had in New Mexico. Husband said the beef tacos were the best, too. Service was friendly and fast.

I'm in Albuquerque about 3 times a year, and I eat here every chance I get! Wonderful, authentic food combining Mexican and Native American dishes. Fast and friendly service, and the place is always packed.

My boyfriend and I were passing through and decided to get some authentic Mexican food. We walked into Padilla's and got sat only to find out that they only took cash. We got up and walked out the door, planning on getting cash and coming back. A man (owner?) came out and asked us if he could help us. we... More

We stopped here after a 12 hour drive before we settled in to our camper for the night. Friendly, informative, relaxed, and fast service. Our guy gave us some good information on the menu and some good recommendations. Try the guacamole. We got the combo plate and a taco plate. Simple, hearty, and delicious. Exactly what we needed. PLUS it... More

Even though they bill themselves as a "Mexican Kitchen," Padilla's is really one of the great New Mexican food restaurants in the state. For those of us who live in New Mexico there's quite a difference between Mexican food and New Mexican food. We travel to Mexico once or twice a year and never find this kind of food on... More

Stopped by at end of our annual NM visit before flying back to Florida. After a week driving and dining throughout NW part of state, our tastebuds were getting pretty particular and discerning regarding quantity and quality of chilies and food preparation:)) Padilla's was not on our original list of places to visit but we are thankful we found this... I've eaten at Padilla's for 35 years - this is a family favorite. This is a family-owned, no-frills, FABULOUS family cooking. Authentic New Mexican cuisine, filling and tasty and extremely low priced. If you want to go where the locals go, come here. Sopapillas are the best I've ever had.

Not fancy but authentic and fun. The staff are friendly, the food is far better than any fast food you will find! I always, when looking for a Mexican restaurant ask a local where there is a place with an abuelita (little grandmother) in the back kitchen. This is that type of place. Sopapillas are the best- they are like... More

I LOVE Padillas! I have lived in Albuquerque over 20 years, and this is my favorite place for Mexican food. Be aware about the cash only. AND it closes at 7:45 pm, so you can't eat late. In New Mexico, sopaipillas are served with the meal, they are NOT dessert, so of course, they will be less hot if you... More
