I LOVE Padillas! I have lived in Albuquerque over 20 years, and this is my favorite place for Mexican food. Be aware about the cash only. AND it closes at 7:45 pm, so you can't eat late. In New Mexico, sopaipillas are served with the meal, they are NOT dessert, so of course, they will be less hot if you... More

Family-run restaurant; Great no-nonsense Mexican food; cash only for payment; they have yummy sopapillas too!

don't be fooled by the exterior and modest look of Padilla's, the food is outstanding and very reasonably priced. I had the chile relleno and sopapillas a la carte. My husband had the carne adovada plate which came with two sopapillas. Outstanding and delicious. The relleno crust was crispy and not soggy. The cheese filling was nicely melted and generous.... While visiting ABQ I met a local couple and asked them for recommendations on the best New Mexican food. They both agreed that for quality that this was one of their two top favorites (the other is Duran's Station). I hit them them both and they were beyond expectations. Fresh, delicious, and homemade. I will definitely be back when I... More

We ate lunch here on the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant is obviously a family owned local dining spot. You could easily tell that 70% of diners were locals, not tourists. Wife and I both had the basic chicken enchilada's with green chile, beans & rice. The portions were good and when I finished cleaning my plate I was... More

Was told this is the place to eat while in Albuquerque. Im a tough critique and this place was not hard to rate. The place doesn't take credit cards!!! Seriously?? what fine restaurant doesn't take credit cards? The food was mediocre at most, nothing I would ever go back for. They didn't even roll up my enchilada and they use... More

Great New Mexican food, I had the enchiladas with green chile. It was really good, however I would have preferred it to be spicier. My meal also came with sopapillas or fry bread, not sure what it is called there but they were great. The waiter was very prompt and provided great service. It truly was some of the best... More

If you're looking for a peaceful meal where you can converse with others at your table, this is not the place. It always seems to be full or nearly so and the sound is deafening. In the past service was quick and meals came out of the kitchen with little wait, but at my last visit it took over 20... More

My first time eating there last week and can't wait to go back! Had lunch and it was very busy, but staff is very much on the ball and food was excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

We met a friend here for lunch today and she advised we arrive by 11:15 for lunch. A good thing since the place is not large and gets crowded pretty quickly which means good food. There is a sign on the front door that states clearly "NO CREDIT CARDS" so be advised. This isn't a fancy place, but it's very... More
