This is a down to earth place with authentic NM food served at very reasonable prices. We had a wonderful Carne Adovada and Posole, with a side order of chicharrones. The red chile is very tasty and just hot enough (for us, that is. Heat is a relative thing). Even though the place was packed the service was very good.... More

Barela's has the feel of a restaurant that caters to local customers, but it treats visitors like locals. Excellent food and excellent service with many smiles. Feels like home! Thanks.

Some say this is Mexican food "just like mom used to make." Well I'm sorry but if that is the case your mom didn't know how to cook. Yuck. Got the beef taco plate. The beef was some sort of strange gray tasteless substance with no flavor. My wife & friend got carne adovada and red chilli enchiladas. They ranked... More

What great food and service. Loved my breakfast and want to go back and try some other foods. Yum!!! I had the plain huevos rancheros wit green sauce and homemade tortillas, almost more like a chapatti, you can have butter also, need I say more?

Barelas Coffee House is a small restaurant at the corner of Barelas Avenue and 4th Street in the Barelas neighborhood of Albuquerque. It is justly famous among the locals and is a must stop every time I am in Albuquerque, and this is not just because I have relatives living just around the corner. The food is fantastic and they... South of downtown great place for breakfast or brunch has the feel of a turn-of-the-century road house. Renowned in the city..don't be surprised if you share your meal with a politician or celebrity .

If you're craving REAL red chile, and REAL carnitas, and REAL huevos rancheros, this is the place! Check their schedule before you go, or call to make sure they're open. You can park across the street in a lot. In warm weather, you can eat on the patio. Just great; we go every time we're in ABQ.

We had a very large family group, so we had to wait a while for food and all, but the food was delicious. Parking is practically non-existent in this "oldest part of town," but my husband said he loved the food and would go back for sure.

My brother told us about this restaurant! It will be on our destination list every time we go to Albuquerque! Food cooked as it should be, no need to add anything to the food except a fork! Amazing chili favors of New Mexico with portions and prices that are wonderful. We look forward to going back soon, with an ice... More
