We saw this on trip adviser and they had us at stuffed sopapailla! The reviews were excellent and so was the food. My whole family loved the food and the experience. If we're ever back in Albuquerque this will be on our list of places to eat.

Tasty Mexican food from pick-up joint. Little bit out of the way, so you have to know where you're going to find it. Had Carnitas Burrito & Stuffed Sopapilla. Everything was made fresh & both were huge portions. Prices are extremely reasonable. Understand why the locals flock here.

Any time I'm in ABQ I stop by for lunch here. The food is always hot and fresh and the heat of the chile is perfect. They are always busy and know that the food is why. You get plenty of it no matter what you order.

The carne adovado burritos are something next to heaven in flavor but everything is fantastic and at a reasonable price too! English is spoken but a great place to practice your high school Spanish!! Souvenir T-shirts are for sale so if you're looking for a neat gift for someone on the other side of the country or world it's this!!

You stand in line to order and wait for your number to be called. We ate there twice on a December trip and one time the server forgot to give us a number...that was a relatively long wait for the food. Overall, the food is good and inexpensive. Will go back there on next trip to Albuquerque.

This is the first place we stop when visiting ABQ to enjoy some great, inexpensive Mexican food, and pick up "to go" Tamales and red chile sauce! Located in a sketchy part of ABQ so I avoid going there at night. Limited seating available, mostly outside, so if it's cold it's best to take the food with you. Well worth... More

El Modelo is the real deal and real people eat there. It is in a neat old building with amazing food at fantastic prices. It is standing room only every time I have been in there with people excitedly lined up and planning what to order. I can't recommend it enough!

For over 50 years I have been visiting , ordering and eating at El Modelo. It turns out, that I was out of the state for twenty years in the middle, but as soon as I came back in 1992, I re-kindled my love affair. I go and have gone every year for the past twenty years for two dozen... More

Love the vibe, love the people, love the food! This place is a little piece of old school Albuquerque. they have been doing it since the 20's and do it right. No frills, no problem! They crank the food out of this place. The kitchen is HUGE! I read somewhere that they make 1000 tamales a day. My family loves... More
