Heard on the news these guys were shutting down for tax issues. I also heard from others who continued to visit them, that they had become worse after Hollywood used them in a movie. This used to be THE steak place. You could not find better king crab, lobster or steaks anywhere in NM. What... read more

Pauls Monterey is closing its doors at the end of the day Saturday, March 28th. This place has been a fixture in Albuquerque since 1971, and has had its ups and downs. When it was good, it was really good, and when it wasn't, it was just average. Prices were a little high for dinners at times, but over-all, it... More

This was the first time i had been at this restaurant and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The wait staff was prompt and courteous and the bar tender at the time i was there (Charlie) was very sweet to the customers. The restaurant made you feel like you were in the 70's because the interior could use some updating,... More

I have been coming to Paul's since I was a little kid (back before the crust had cooled) and I decided to take my girls here on a whim last night. So yes, the decor and ambiance are pretty hilarious. 1978 called and it wants its dining room back. In fact, I think I came here on a date in... More

We had not been to Paul's in quite awhile and had heard mixed reviews from friends who also used to frequent this restaurant. We were very pleased tonite. Good service and great food. It was a Thursday night and they had a prime rib special for $17.95 (Monday-Thurs). My husband and I like rare and that's what we got. Great... More

A colleague advised me to visit this place. He told me not to be turned off by the exterior or interior décor. The outside looks like an old Golden Skillet and the inside looks like a throw back 1970's joint. Most buildings like this have been turned into strip clubs. But anyway, the service was great. Loreen was an awesome... More

I tried it again...Eric Larson (owner) shame on you whoever you are! I thought I would try again. This time making a mistake of ordering the lobster. First with the salad, give me LETTUCE! Leave off your old cucumbers and canned olives, just give me fresh lettuce. I then decided to order lobster ($49.99). Big mistake...over cooked rubber...then they has... More

Not only is their prime rib the best in town, but the sauteed mushrooms, and the shrimp cocktail are very good too. Been going to Paul's for over 35 years and never ate in the bar until V-Day. Great atmosphere.

Aloha all, Another attempt to try something new here in ABQ while on another business trip to town. Again, I went to the TripAdvisor stats and solicited a few local recommendations. Paul's came up as a good place for a great steak. Truthfully, I'm somewhat conflicted here between an "Average" and a "Very Good"' so I'll create my own rating... More

This is an old fashioned steak house, dark inside, but serious about quality food and service. Price is a little steep, but well worth it when it comes to the flavor and portions of the service.
