Outstanding food in Albuquerque

My husband and I have eaten at Jennifer James 101 about 4 times in the past few months. It is the place we go for a special dinner (like a birthday and anniversary) and for the Thursday night specials. The restaurant is small so a reservation is essential. I wish I could eat here all the time. The way she combines flavors always amazes me and I always come away remembering the meal. It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion also.

We've enjoyed several outstanding meals here over several years. We've never been disappointed. Our end of year meal on 12/27/14 was no exception. The foie gras and sweet potato soup appetizers, the painted hills rib eye, korean style pork belly, and shrimp mains were all fabulous. Along with the very well chosen and modestly priced wine list and hand-crafted yummy... More

I believe this is my second one star review ever. Where do I begin? The restaurant wants desperately to be considered a gourmet sanctuary for the culinary elite of Albuquerque. Their menu prices fit the bill for gourmet, but nothing else does. The restaurant is tucked into a dimly lit strip center with a confused parking situation. You can't easily... More

Chef James runs the finest kitchen in ABQ. She locally sources all her ingredients. Her menu is innovative, always fresh, and never fails to please. This is the perfect place to go to celebrate a special event: graduation, wedding proposal, parents coming into town, and entertaining a foodie friend. Chef James does not disappoint. (Note, if your dear one balks... More

This is by far the best restaurant in Albuquerque. It has a small, seasonal menu, excellent wine list and excellent service.

The menu choices had a lot of variety too them. The service was great and the atmosphere was upscale. The one concern was that a party of more than four can not have their check split. "We were from multiple states and needed separate checks. The waitress refused to do that and offered very little help in that respect. It... More

It may be a challenge to locate their parking area (which is off an alley in the back), but it is worth the challenge! They use local produce/meats, begin the meal with a locally grown appetizer and the menu changes seasonally. My husband opted for the grilled radicchio salad/ grilled tuna which was fabulous! I had the medallion of tomatoes... More

We dined at Jennifer James, both anticipating a very nice dinner, but were disappointed. The carrot ginger soup was so strong it was nearly inedible. If I had blind-tasted the soup I would not have known that there were carrots in it. The chickpea fries starter with a couple of dipping sauces was nice. My husband enjoyed his pheasant though...
