For us, it didn't live up to the hype

We had been thinking of eating here for a long time and finally went with another couple just last evening. We had admired the extensive menu on line and we all knew we were going to expect good, authentic Irish pub fare. Our table orders were Sheppard's Pie, pierogies, and an Irish Reuben... read more

First visit: stopped for some beers. Obnoxious staff advise us at the door that unless we're here to eat, then we cannot drink. Ok - it's Utah. But hello stupid-oh's . . . that doesn't mean I must eat a 3 course meal just to get a beer. Due to the attitude, we just bounced. Second visit: today. stopped for... More

The location was great. Honestly...terrible food. How do mess up corn beef and cabbage??? Has a list of beers...but only had a few available and we got 2 in bottles that were over a year old. Come on....we should have known since we were the only people in the whole place.

Suprisingly good! OK, I read the reviews before going and was doubtful. We entered the place and is wasn't busy. They hand you these well used paper menus that made me almost want to walk out. Stuck it out and ordered. Salmon with BBQ? Who knew! It was excellent. Also had the lamb and it was good. Not excellent like... More

I love this place with its authentic Irish fare and delicious beer. They have a full bar, but I do love the Guinness Stew, and the lamb rib appetizer is worth the $17. Really! Great owners and service, too! There are locations in Layton and Ogden, too.

Right across the road from the Home 2 Suits, in Layton Utah. There is a row of small restaurants , MacCools is on the end . The declare is weird , with tall huge wooden chairs and tables in the front of the restaurant , but through another door resides the rest of the seating Rea with normal size furniture... More

MacCool's is a favorite for Sunday lunch (close to church). The lamb ribs and sweet potato fries are good. For lighter fare, try one of their salad selections. Good beer and Bloody Mary's too.

Hit and miss basically sums up the food and service (usually the service is more towards the average to very good, although I have had a few excellent servers). I've been here many times over the years and even had a few company parties. For small corporate parties their pricing is hard to beat. I just wish that the food... More

We've seen ads for MacCool's Public House in Salt Lake City for a few months now and finally tried it. It was a little hard to find (in a large strip mall, with crowded parking) but once we got inside, it was great! We were seated quickly and our waiter was right there to take our drink orders. He answered... More

This was a hard place for me we tried several different plates and all of them were very difficult to eat. The shepherds Pie was not for me even though it was well reviewed and someone ordered the Lamb quesadilla. First of all who orders Lamb but they tried it and hated it. The atmosphere is great and the service... More
