Fun, kitsch, tasty... all in one bakery/shop!

We found this by accident. A demonstration march on Monsanto turned us around and led us to this store with a fantastic neon store front. We sampled much and fell in love with many, many things. The German chocolate pastry triangles were amazingly moist and tender. The flavor was out of this... read more

I really, really, really wanted to like this place. The cookies were just "meh" and not worth the calories. The bread was okay, but it wasn't sliced! If you're trying to pass off a dessert or loaf of bread as "homemade" this is your place.

Great selection of delicous cookies, pastries, cakes. Staff was very friendly and funny. Worth the visit.

Like stepping back in time to the bakeries I knew as a child! Great tasting treats at fair prices. When they have them, the chocolate-covered macaroons are to die for.

Salt Lake fixture creating truly gorgeous pastries, decorated with fabulous icing flowers. However, generally no taste to cakes & cookies. Expensive. This is a bakery, not a restaurant.

A real throwback to a time when bakeries took time to make great pastries and breads. Quality ingredients. We have been going there for years. Expensive but worth it!

The best sweets in town! They have a big selection of individual cake slices and pastries so you can sample a bunch of things without spending a lot. Their frosting is awesome and everything tasted great. They also have a cute little gift shop attached to the bakery. Don't miss this place!!

Backer's has been around as long as I can remember cranks out a wide variety of confections. Everything is good, but nothing stands out to as excellent. It's just a good reliable bakery.

Salt lake city has many fine bakeries, but this is our favorite. We love the flower top cakes with butter cream frosting.

Delicious and artfully made. Mrs. Backer's reminds ot me of a French pastry shop.
