There are only a few authentic restaurants in SLC and this is one of the best. The chefs are local and friendly and the food tastes just like you're in Japan. Fun, cheap place for lunch or dinner. The miso ramen and the Katsudon is delicious

I love their miso ramen. It always hits the spot especially on cold, wintery days. The food is also very affordable. I don't understand how people complain about their customer service...as you enter, you know to expect that you will basically serve yourself. You order at the counter, find your own table, clean up after yourself. It's really not that... More

this is the restaurant that I like most in SLC. I like the Teriyaki bowl and chicken Katsu. The price is reasonable. good place!

Every time I go here (at least twice a month or more) I get the same items: the salmon rice ball or the teriyaki beef, chicken or tofu bowl and it is AMAZMING. That sauce is soo good and those rice balls are the best I've had. The Musubi is good too! (except I try not to eat it too... More

depending on what you order it could take a while, great atmosphere, took a while to get food come and have drinks relax, it's a different sorta place, eat outside in the back. after working as a prep cook in a larger restaurant, i can see why it is challenging for them to plate food quickly as the kitchen isn't... The food is definitely good - soups, ramens and udons are warm and tasty, perfect for the cold winter here in Utah. The sushis are average at best but definitely manageable since they have tons of other delicious little treats in their menu. The ambiance is laid back and casual, which doesn't bother me by any means. The worst part,... More

I've been going to Koko for years... at least 12 and it is one of my favorites. It's all about expectations and knowing why you'd go. No, you don't go for the ambiance... at least not an upscale ambiance. If you're put off by slightly divey atmospheres (and I use that word reluctantly, because I don't think it really fits)... Came in close to opening time and ordered a couple of rolls. Not only did they take FOREVER in a very empty restaurant but the tuna was spongy and grainy and the rolls were so loose you could not easily eat them.

Honestly I do not understand the appeal of this place when there are many Japanese restaurants in town that are really making an effort. Maybe I'm too fussy, but I prefer to eat at a place that is at least as clean as my own home and doesn't feel like a slapdash college dorm! Check out the photo of the... More
