Asian tapas hits the mark

Looking for a casual quick restaurant near Temple Square we were fortunate to find Pipa. Five of us including my 3 year old grandson were delight. The strip mall location and non description decors belies the superb imaginative cuisine. All the small plates were perfect for sharing 4 ways. We had... read more

Found this place after giving up on getting into nearby Red Iquana, and it turned out to be our good fortune. Setting is a strip plaza and interior seems like a small night club, so we were skeptical despite great reviews online. The very helpful and friendly waiter said that they do most of their business late on weekends, which... More

We are from Calif and didn't know what to expect. Excellent food! Not a bad dish in what we ordered. Good service and we asked for suggestions on the menu and our waiter was on spot! Great way to end our vacation!

I love the food here and the presentations are fabulous. They seem to have opened right in the middle of a major construction area and I hope they can survive. Service is good from the cucumber water to the flavour combinations. The house music seems loud sometimes but with more patrons, that will be taken care of. Four people can... More

I don't know if it was a bad night but it was just bad. i got there at 7:30. Maybe that's late for Salt Lake but I was the only one in the place. I ordered asparagus in a wonton - Fried. I ordered calamari - soaked in grease. I ordered XO noodles - fat chucks of pasta in more... More

I've been here twice and both times the food and the service was outstanding. The food has a flavor you dont find in SLC. Lovely small plates, perfect for sharing. Luckily no one told the owner that mixing a techno vibe with Japanese anamai on the TV's is not done. Once we even watched the NBA playoffs while enjoying the... More

A pleasent surprise for Utah! Different from any other restaurant I've ever eaten at. Been there three time, and always consistent. Haven't tried the saki drinks - yet - have enjoyed many of the asian tapas offerings. Attentive service, with the young owner attempting a very radical cusine!

Don't let the exterior appearance and location stop you from visiting Pipa. It took my partner some convincing before he would drive to this part of town - not known for good neighborhoods or good food. The location is in a strip mall, next to a Chinese Restaurant. However, once you enter Pipas, you can't believe you are in Utah.... More
