Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

Make a reservation!!!! Very popular as it should be. The cuisine is incredible. Freshly prepared. Exquisite ingredients. From duck to die for, to fresh catches of the day! The pork chop....perfection. Yes it has an egg on top! The sautéed mushrooms for an appetizer, heaven. The staff is gorgeously friendly and very knowledgeable. Oh yes! Cheese, meats and olives to... Was starving late one evening in Salt Lake City, read great reviews about this restaurant. Walked in and realized it was extremely loud inside, and asked for a outdoor patio table, as one was obviously available, and another table was getting ready to leave. The hostess said it would be 25 minutes to sit outside, so we figured there were... More

We had a late dinner on a week night and were seated immediately. Ammie was a great waitress with lots of good information about the menu. We started with a meat and cheese plate...awesome! Our entrees were the meatloaf and iron cast chicken...both were excellent. We shared the cheesecake and loved it. Reasonable prices for the amount and quality of... More

We sampled from the broad menu - the cheeses and sausages were a treat. Our server was excellent; we lingered, and he was just as pleasant as he was patient. Surprisingly quiet for the on-street location. We had free parking on the street just steps away, too.

This was recommended to us by a local in Salt Lake. So glad we visited the Copper Onion. Wonderful food and the patio was perfect. We chose the goat cheese salad and roasted asparagus apps followed by the beef stroganoff and seafood pasta. We were not disappointed! The homemade chocolate pudding was very comforting and tasty. We had the unusual... More

This place has great food. Everything is so wonderful and simple that you truly just enjoy THE FOOD. Its not covered in sauces and goop, it's just fresh and tasty, good quality food. I like to sit up at the chefs area and watch the action. I would like to add that I really prefer this place in the winter,........ More

I visit SLC for business every year spending almost two months exploring the culinary scene. Ryan and his team of chefs teach and train each new team in the kitchen to deliver an amazingly consistent menu of quality unique meals and desserts. This trip we had the misfortune to be served by a new server (Jeff?) who brought a snobbery... More
