The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

Yum!

We recently spent an evening in Salt Lake City, and we ended up at Copper Onion. The hotel has a super cool feel- great outdoor atmosphere too. My husband is a chef, so we have high expectations when it comes to quality and taste. This was one of the best restaurants we have been to. Maybe even... read more

And I am not complaining! The meal was EXCELLENT! The service was good, I had a great recommendation of the ham sandwich with a fried egg (look for it -it's worth every bite).

tried to make reservations 2 days in advance, all booked. Tried anyway and was able to get a seat at the bar. Great view at all the kitchen magic. The beef tartare is one of the best I've ever tasted, the red wine served with the cheese one of the most overpriced ever ($17 for a glass, really....?). Will definitely... More

I went to the Copper Onion solo and sat at the bar (while in town on a business trip). The bar seating faces directly into the open kitchen, so if you like to watch the chefs work, that is the place to be. My server was polite and attentive. I wouldn’t normally mention the bread, but it was really delicious... More

a trendy, casual buzz, although unfortunately the minimalist aesthetic makes it very noisy. Fresh and tasty food. Great service (there had been a mix up with our booking - our fault not theirs but they dealt with it brilliantly).

This restaurant is amazing. Salt Lake City has a growing scene of really high-caliber restaurants, and Copper Onion, along with Takashi, is my favorite. I had a good feeling the meal was going to be epic from the beginning when I first tried the bread, which is some of the best fresh bread I’ve had in a while. I was... More

A colleague recommended that I try Copper Onion, so we did. We had a group of 4 and were lucky enough to have a nice outdoor table that was good for a quiet business discussion. It turns out that an inside table would be tough to have a discussion since it is very loud. Overall, the menu has a nice... More

Although I know that this is considered one of the best restaurants in SLC, I personally had a bad experience with it. My food was cold, steak and vegetables, and when I made the server aware of it, he said that they will do another one for me, but instead they just brought it back reheated, and some of the... More

It was alright...not worthy of the rating it got. We tried several things on the menu as we were a large group and everyone tried something. Although good nothing to write home about.

Great food. Service was friendly fast and helpful to resolve those portion and sharing questions. I had the stroganoff (fresh homemade pasta)-excellent dish.
