Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

Not a place to go for a special occasion. Shouldn't start out negative but oh well. Food was amazing. We went after a day of skiing and really enjoyed the eats. Nice staff!

This is a popular place. By the time we called, there's only 5pm or 9pm available. We chose 5pm and drove directly there after a day of skiing at Snowbird. With good traffic, we got there early. The restaurant wasn't even open when we got there (it opens at 5pm). The service was great. The waitress was very attentive and... More

This is our second trip to this restaurant. We were here a year ago for the first time and found this place while driving around. The food is really good. We tried the house burger and the duck special and they were excellent. The service is slow but worth the wait. They also have a small selection of craft beers.

A friend took me here and recommended the burger, made with Niman Ranch beef. I don't often order hamburgers. It was delicious and neither of us finished our meals because there was plenty. We probably could have shared one. But don't let the burger fool you - there are many more elegant things you can order. We were feeling casual.... More

This is one of Salt Lakes BEST eateries! They make all their bread and pasta from scratch on location! Everything there is delicious! I have not had too many desserts, and was not too impressed with the dessert but heard the chocolate pudding is amazing. Try the Pub Steak, Pork Chop, Beef Stroganoff or the Burger... they are to die... More

Copper Onion was an immediate hit when it opened, and it has continued to be packed at all hours. You may find it very hard to get a table online with sites like Open Table, but this because the restaurant keeps a large portion of its inventory open for direct reservations. Reservations are a must during prime lunch and dinner... More

If you are in SLC on Sunday, you MUST visit the Copper Onion. It's a bit.pricy but it has the ambiance and the food that you will never forget. Just go there, you'll thank me later.

I love this restaurant ....I really do....however this visit wasn't our best. And generally, I think I would have to attribute this less than 5 Star Experience to our waitress. We had booked this reservation quite a bit in advance for our 1st Wedding Anniversary along with another couple who were married on 12/23 and even called to confirm. When... More

This place is has excellent food that keeps me coming back for more!!! So far I've only enjoyed their lunches or dinners-- I have not yet tried their brunches, but I'm sure they're just as tasty. The types of meals they serve are American with a classy and unique spin on them. Some of my favorite dinner meals are the... More
