Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

We are from Calif., and this place would fit right in, in Napa or Sonoma. Fresh, creative dishes, all very good. Meatloaf was above average, stroganoff excellent, trout very good. I think this place is great! My only complaint is it's too easy to overeat! Prices are a little high, but there's plenty of reasonably priced items as well. You can't go wrong with there burger!

Great business lunch, staff was very accommodating and the food was delicious and portions quite generous. The menu had a decent variety so you should be able to please everyone.

This is a newer restaurant in the downtown area, and it's excellent. Local meats, fish, and veggies were fresh and tasty. Wow what a great experience again. We always go for a meal or two when we're in Salt Lake City at this restaurant. Great food, Great Service, Absolutely delicious.

Everything tasted amazing, but I couldn't savor and enjoy it because the chairs were so uncomfortable. Make a reservation and clarify that you want a booth, otherwise- don't bother. Isn't that silly that it should matter so much? That's how uncomfortable the chairs were.

My husband and I heard reviews from locals and had to try it. We loved our waiter who talked us through the menu and was super attentive. Great flavors and cuisine, but not a stuffy atmosphere- really reasonable prices.

Great food. Monday night and the place was packed. Had the meat loaf, one guest had the beef stroganoff the other the trout. All were fantastic. Vince our waiter recommend a chard that was right on the money as a recommendation. Prices were reasonable. Would recommend this place to everyone.
