Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

I love this restaurant ....I really do....however this visit wasn't our best. And generally, I think I would have to attribute this less than 5 Star Experience to our waitress. We had booked this reservation quite a bit in advance for our 1st Wedding Anniversary along with another couple who were married on 12/23 and even called to confirm. When... More

This place is has excellent food that keeps me coming back for more!!! So far I've only enjoyed their lunches or dinners-- I have not yet tried their brunches, but I'm sure they're just as tasty. The types of meals they serve are American with a classy and unique spin on them. Some of my favorite dinner meals are the... More

Found this little gem after reading a couple of foodie blogs. Highly recommend it. They get it right on food, service and ambience. We loved the cauliflower app. The mushroom dish was also very good (just a little light on mushrooms strangely enough!). But the star was a duck and bone marrow cassoulet with fava beans. So rich and so good!

This is a very busy restaurant! We had reservations and still had to wait because they had sat so many people (5 pm), they had no menus! Enjoyed ordering separate meat & cheeses as a starter. The beef stroganoff was outstanding with tender, perfectly seasoned cuts of beef and delicious homemade pasta. The duck poutine sounded fantastic as written but... More

A trendy little place with long wooden benches that you might be asked to share with another party. But the atmosphere is warm and casual I doubt many people would mind! We had the carbonara, the burger, the romaine salad, the omelette and trout and the ricotta dumplings. Oh, the ricotta dumplings! Please try them. Or don't, and save them... More

I have been here only three times, but have been blown away all three times. My first experience with duck was here and now I find myself ordering duck at every restaurant that offers it. I ordered it on a whim here and absolutely loved it. You just can't go wrong here.

Copper Onion is a simply excellent place. The service is great, the atmosphere hip (though a little tightly-packed and loud), and the food is the best. My date and I shared an asiago cheese appetizer that was the special, and the pork belly app off the menu. The pork belly was really good, and the parsnips with a macerated cherry... More

The atmosphere is great for a night out with friends or a date night. The tables are small, but with the continual shifting of the small plates and way they come out, it makes it much easier for a communal dining experience. The food is fantastic and provides a large range of options with a similar feel but variety of... More

My husband and I dined here at 5 pm on a Saturday. All tables were filled by 5:30. We asked for a quiet spot in our reservation and were seated in a corner so we had no trouble hearing and did not feel crowded. The atmosphere is casual and urban....lots of stainless. Not a place for a business dinner.. tables... More

I ate at the Copper Onion on a recent business trip and had a good meal. The atmosphere is lively (ie loud) and crowded so make a reservation or be prepard to wait any night of the week. Also note that portions are much larger than one would expect in this price range so be careful not to over-order. I... More
