A symphony of fine dining, with a few missed notes

Tucked away in a wooded area, this restaurant with a curious name offers many culinary delights. Upon entering, the decor is simple and elegant with fresh cut flowers on each table, tasteful paintings adorning the walls and soft jazz music in the background. We booked an early 05:30 dinner and... read more

We were in Macon in late May 2015. We asked at our hotel for a recommendation for a fish restaurant, and when we arrived outside we thought..um! But this place was brilliant. We don't eat shell fish but we had a great snapper and one of the biggest portions of sea bass I have ever seen. The food was delicious... More

This tucked away eatery is a wonderful surprise. We went there for lunch not knowing what to expect. We found a French-style bistro on a back street in Macon. We could not have been more pleased! The food was exceptional, the service personalized, and the ambience enhanced with paintings throughout the restraint by local artists - a true sensation for... More

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower at the Back Burner. I could not have asked for anything better. The food was wonderful (shrimp and grits, chicken dish, and strawberry cake). Service was exceptional. Everything flowed smoothly, very organized staff. There were 21 guest for the shower and the staff handled everything with ease. We had our own private room for... More

Knock out service. Spot on martini, Godfather. Nice room, maybe a little dark but pleasent and comfortable. The focus is the meal. First trip Piaia, absolutely endless bowl of Mediterranean bliss. A bone in porterhouse, maybe 40 oz? Best cattle I have had out. Last night the sea bass landed with finerling potatos and asparagus. My date had the slow... More

My wife and I were looking at the nearby shops and decided to go to lunch. We passed this restaurant on the way downtown were we were going to eat. We had forgotten about the Cherry Blossom Festival going on and the restaurants were packed. We decided to go back to The back Burner, and we are glad we did!... More

So the restaurant has a new flare now. The first thing that strikes you when you walk in is the new décor. it is more " up to date " and makes it feel so much cleaner. we went there last Friday night and it was extremely busy but we were sat promptly and our server ( Kyle ) took... More

New owners with pretty much the same food. Special of lobster is greatly over priced. Got sea bass which was not fresh. Got the escargot which was excellent. Same old tired wine list. They need to spruce up the menu and wine list if you are going to charge that much for only just satsifactory food

We only discovered this place last month and have already been back twice. The food is plated beautiful and taste even better. The lobster bisque soup is the best I have ever had. A little expensive but it keeps the craziness you have to deal with at other places away.

My family and I recently ate at The Back Burner for lunch. I had been many times over the years, for lunch, and had always had a good meal there. However, this most recent excursion topped all other dining experiences I have had at The Back Burner. We had a party of eight people and I do believe one of... More
