This is one of my favorite restaurants in Macon, Ga. They have been opened since 1979. I make a point to eat here everytime I come to Macon. It is not a fancy place, but they serve some of the best fresh seafood in town. The restaurant is only open for dinner only. They offer an earlybird menu from 5:00 till 6:00 PM with reduced prices. I would definately recommend Jim Shaw's to anyone looking for a good seafood meal.

Always great!!!

I don't get to the Macon area very often, but when I do the number one thing to do is eat dinner here. The blackened gator appetizer is always good. Their chowder rival anything I have had in New England. The blackened salmon was a huge steak, blackened to perfection and the cheese grits for a side... read more

My friends and I were told repeatedly by residents in the area to visit the restaurant, unfortunately it fell dramatically short of expectations. The service was awful. When asked, the server was unable to provide an entrée to recommend. It started raining outside and water ended up coming through the back door. The restaurant is small, cramped, and loud. To... This rating is for the bar side as the other side of the restaurant feels much more like a Red Lobster type feel. The bar side has outdoor seating and indoor seating including a large fireplace on the porch. They have great happy hour specials (though they don't open until 5) that include blackened gator baskets and oysters (baked, fried,... More

Hands down the best blackened grouper I have ever eaten, I don't even order it at the beach any more because It is never as good as Jim Shaws.

I'll be honest, I don't eat seafood but my family loves this place and I always either get a salad which is huge or the chicken tenders. Those are great. My family loves their food for all you seafood lovers. Great service! I recommend going right at 5 to get a seat because it is a small place and so... More

What a fun spot! you can eat in the bar, or wait for the dining room. It's all very casual with specials listed on butcher paper on the wall. Huge menu of fish and shellfish, all prepared multiple ways - fried, steamed, boiled, grilled. Fried green tomatoes were delicious, as was the house specialty vidalia salad dressing on large spinach... More

Personally, I prefer the "outside" area to the regular dining room, which is rather spare and depressing. The outside (it's actually enclosed with plastic, etc.) is fun and you do have to order your food at a window and pick it up when it's ready, but that's fine with me. The lower priced, fried items, esp. appetizers, are very tasty.... More

Don't know how they get such fresh seafood, but this established Macon eatery is incredibly delicious! Many fresh items to choose from and great combo plates. Some of the best fried shrimp I've had in ages. The grilled scallops were terrific too. Some in my group got fresh fish: Blue Marlin = very good, Grouper = very good. They offer... More

Finished second day of riding at Georgia Tandem Rally and was looking for laid back place with good seafood. Found this on Trip Advisor anf thought it fit the bill. Great food, cold beer and exceptionally helpful waitress. Recommend crab soup, bourbon shrimp and the pimento grits hush puppies.

This restaurant to me is the best seafood eatery in town. Skipper has served great food for years, I love the steamed oysters and the gator tail is my all time favorite. My wife and I like to sit in the bar patio area with the fireplace. We not only enjoy the food but I must say that my mixed... More
