Cuisines: Seafood
Description: This is one of my favorite restaurants in Macon, Ga. They have been opened since 1979. I make a point to eat here everytime I come to Macon. It is not a fancy place, but they serve some of the best fresh seafood in town. The restaurant is only open for dinner only. They offer an earlybird menu from 5:00 till 6:00 PM with reduced prices. I would definately recommend Jim Shaw's to anyone looking for a good seafood meal.

While working in Macon, I always ask the locals where to go for a good meal. Jim Shaw's won, hands down. Everything was so fresh and delicious. It took a little while to get my food, but I think it was the preparation, so I did not mind the wait. I had salmon, baked potato, fried green tomatoes with shrimp... More

All of the food at Jim Shaw's is excellent. The catfish is some of the best I have ever had and the fried oysters, mighty good! We found this by accident on a trip down south. Small but mighty!

good value but cramped and old restaurant style. First place I ever tried alligator tail. Extrememly good and tasty. Get it blackened and fried very good.

We used to go to Spears Article Circle. Everything was good. Their breaded French fries were what kept them on my mind and on my plate! Jim Shaw's has them! They remind me of the Crab Trap in St Simons! There is a reason for that fact. I have never eaten anything at Jim Shaw's that wasn't delicious. That's because... More

I travel a great deal and was told by all the locals that Jim Shaw Seafood is great. The first time back in July 2013, I loved it. Took my fiancé there in Sept 2013 on our way to St. Simons and they burnt his fish and my shrimp didn't taste "right". Tonight Aug 2014, shrimp was burnt, scallops and... More

This was our first visit to Jim Shaw's. After reading the reviews , we were looking forward to some good seafood. When we arrived , we had to find a place to park. We got lucky as someone was leaving. We had a 30 minute wait for a table. No problem , let's get a margarita from the bar. First... More

Will never understand why Jim Shaw's is the best of the best seafood restaurant in Macon, and Bonefish isn't! The food is so much fresher and yummy tasting at Bonefish than it is here at Jim Shaw's. The parking is a mess too, and the restaurant is too small. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but it's not... More

We ordered various dishes: crab soup, frog legs, fish, soft-shell crab, hush puppies, salads, potato, slaw... The soup was very good ( I did add Tabasco & black pepper for more flavor) but everything else seemed average to our whole party that attended the dinner. Our waiter was very nice and helpful.

Service was great. Food was good except the fried oysters were a little cold. Scallops were great as well as the crab soup. Was a little pricy for what you got, but not bad. Cost $30.00 before tip for me by myself. I had a cup of soup and the seafood. I would probably come back next time I'm in... More

Local foods with superb flavor. The wife loved the pimento cheese fritters. I hadn't been in years - glad I returned. The price was high but not as bad as I recalled.
