I'm in Macon every couple weeks for work and always make it a point to stop by JL's for some chargrilled chicken...the dinner plate... even though it's lunch time. Debby, Vesta and JL are always very welcoming, with great service, and the food is delicious!

We both had the ribs and they were great! The atmosphere was nice and the people were very friendly.

We went to JL's BBQ around 20 years ago on a trip back from Florida with out two youngest sons. We loved it so much, we said it would be worth the long ride from home just to eat there. We swore we would return soon. We never got back. But, in those 20 years we tried but never found... More

The string beans were good, baked potatoes good. Just wished they hadn't run out of cocoanut pie. The waitresses were friendly and didn't steer us wrong on any choices.

We overnighted in Macon and are at JL's. I had wings and a loaded potato and they were great. The ribs were super tender and collars greens were good, too. Just a good, solid, inexpensive place to eat on the road. Service was good too

I had eaten at this restaurant one time before and thought it was good but I think it is even better than before. The food is excellent and they give plenty. I had the BBQ Pork and my wife had the chicken and both were very tasty. We wanted some dessert and saw that they had cake. They have a... More

Headed to Florida, my family decided to stop when we saw the Voted #1 in Georgia billboard about this BBQ place. Honestly, the BBQ does have a smoky and good flavor, however, the presentation of the food, the lack of sanitation in the bathrooms and the overall bored waitresses and cooks ruined the effect. Besides the battered okra, the sides... More

Being the huge fan of BBQ we are we decided to try this place as it was close to hotel. Wrong choice! It's sad when the best part of the meal is the garlic bread and tea... $60 for 3 people...

The worst BBQ I have ever had. I ordered the baby back ribs, for the cost of the dinner over 25 bucks with dessert - it was terrible. If I would have dined in, I would have asked for a refund after the first bite!

We stopped here for lunch - it was convenient - just off the Macon bypass. Smoke coming from chimney smelled good, so let's try it. My husband ordered the beef brisket, I had the pulled pork plate. Both meat dishes seemed to have been boiled. Colorless and no smoke flavor at all. The cole slaw was elderly to the point... More
