Will be coming again.

Came here with the Mrs as a last min occasion "something to do" I heard from my mother that a lot of people who had been said it was lovely but a bit pricey. Anyways I booked a taxi from Royston with the Mrs to get fed. Situated is a lovely little pub on the edge of an estate with... read more

We arrived quite late on a Saturday night, not expecting to find anywhere to eat. To our surprise the barman in the packed pub led us upstairs to a lovely, quiet, hidden restaurant. The service was fantastic, the staff friendly and smiley... But left you alone when needed. The food was brilliant. Between us we had mussels, Thai fish cakes,... More

Visited the talbot a few times now and always had good home cooked food, great friendly service. The pub/ bar area downstairs is nice but we usually sit in the restaurant as we have a toddler and it's easier with the highchair the restaurant is a little tired and in need of tarting up however the food is lovely so... Visited here after driving past - looked very attractive on the outside. Restaurant is upstairs and the pub is downstairs. We had Sunday lunch - over all very good value for money - some things a little old fashioned (piping mash into shapes on your plate?) But the food was tasty - traditional home cooked food. Nothing amazing but lovely... More

Found this restaurant by chance whilst looking on the internet for nice restaurants in the Barnsley area, after reading the excellent reviews for this place we decided to travel the 30 mile round trip and give it a shot. We waited in the bar area downstairs and enjoyed a few drinks before going upstairs for our meal. Upstairs is very... More

Another lunch time food treat at The Talbot Inn, tried the minted lamb burger and I was not disappointed, top quality taste. Staff superb again as they usually are. Beer is top quality. Hard to leave the premises after lunch or tea.

We have visited 2 or 3 times recently at lunchtime and taken advantage of the Tuesday special menu. The bar man is a real credit - chatty, pleasant and a genuinely nice guy! The food on each occasion was good, however, the last time that we visited I felt that my curry portion was quite small - it tasted great,... More

The bar staff were very nice, he let me have a taste of the beer to try which was lovely. My daughter's steak and ale pie was lovely but I had lasagne and although they let me substitute the garlic bread for side salad which was very nice the lasagne was very dry and tasteless, there was no sauce and... Been advised a fee times by friends. And glad we did. Called in on the of chance. Landed on 😀 a home cook meal for £5 as it was a Tuesday. I had the steak and ale pie and my partner had the lasagne. My pie was offered with homemade chips or mushy peas or veg. Went for chips and... More

Visited with a large group of family members, the service was quick even though the restaurant was very busy and all our food was received together, even though we had a table of 12. The meal I had was very nice, although I was disappointed there was only 1 vegetarian option on the main menu for one of my guests... More
