We went there because we had never been to Franz Josef before and it was on the Main Street and looked popular. We went in and what a surprise! Bustling with people and the service was superb, kept our drinks topped up and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. And then there was the food, my partner said that for... More

Nice place on a cold night. We ate inside, but they have an open fire pit outside for cold nights. We didn't order too much, but the pizza was excellent.

This seems like one of the only places in town with any sort of nightlife. We went here for dinner and found it was fairly crowded. The other restaurants we went to were dead. This place had a good atmosphere and good service.

We stopped in here to sample the starter of spring rolls, samosa and wontons. They were light and tasty went well with a pint of Speight's distinction ale. Other food that was served looked to be good with big serving. Burger looked good!

Called in here for a drink and a bite to eat. We had the spring rolls, samosa and also the wontons. Service was friendly, polite and quick. We enjoyed our food and drink.

Great service, and a very good large menu (reasonable prices too!). The best shelter from the storm with all the outdoor seating and heaters - so cosy up for breakfast, lunch or dinner when you're in Franz!

We ate here two nights in a row, and found all our meals were delicious! The lamb shanks especially were a hit! Best meals of our NZ trip.

Straight up when you enter, you are greeted with a massive smile and warm welcomes The food was to die for. I got the seafood chowder for an entrée and them the whitebait fritters. I have never had whitebait before but I think I'm going to make the effort to come here and eat it at least once every year... More

We stayed at the Scenic Hotel right down the street so ended up walking to The Landing for dinner on Saturday night. The host was so friendly and set up a "wall of heaters" around us so we could sit outside. The menu is great, very affordable, and the outside patio is perfect for people watching and enjoying the mountains... More

We spent the night in Franz Joseph recently and were advised by our motel manager to go to the Landing. It was just around the corner and was all he said it would be - great food, great service, great surroundings, very warm, big screen to watch the Highlanders play rugby. I had also read a very good review in... More
