Sometimes Indian can be hit and miss, but my wife and I (real foodies we are) well, we just loved this place. We had the butter chicken and daal makhani - was fresh, hot, tasty etc. Highly recommended. It is right next door to 58 On Cron which I reviewed separately (also a 5 star rating).

Although the food is average but this being the only restaurant serving Indian Food so we had no other option to eat anywhere else. The food is average and pricing is satisfactory.

We stumbled across Priya late one evening and were pleased to find only a few people in the restaurant. The menu is fairly typical however they also offer a children's menu which includes a chicken or lamb dish, naan, a drink as well as icecream - a real bonus for those families who enjoy dining out. Given the amount of... More

After reading other people's comments I thought we would try anyway and our waiter was very friendly and the food we had, was tasty and the service speedy.

We had food here one night when we went to Franz Josef Glacier earlier this month. The food is okay, not so tasty. Am sure they couldn't manage to find the right ingredients and `masala' in New Zealand. It's just about okay, nothing great. Whatever you order, you get rice with it.

Being an indian I really know what indian food is, the chicken tikka was horribly cooked, seemed frozen for months and then cooked and burnt, the naan was good, but butter chicken didn't even taste like butter chicken, was really disappointed. Meanwhile I was charged a 10% surcharge on the overpriced menu since it was christmas, and they charge extra... More

We ate twice at Priya's during our holiday, and we feel its just about as good (or as bad) as any other Indian restaurant in the country. Like all Indian restaurants in NZ, I feel this too is a bit overpriced. Quality-wise, their veg pulao was very very good, and so was the daal. During both our visits, the place... More

I often eat Indian food in various countries, but the muck served up by this crowd is truly disghusting. They tried to charge for a glass of wine that was corked, and when I returned the wine after barely trying a sip, the manager replied "It's not my problem. Call the vineyard." Just stay away.

As Malaysians, we have had our fair share of tasty Indian food. As such, we were quite skeptical when we entered this restaurant. We had Briyani Chicken rice and vegetarian Dhal curry. The verdict? Excellent! Delicious! We would eat here again.
