Excellent food, great staff, good location, ok wait time

I love to eat at Freestones, when I have a lot of time to spend. The food is always fresh and prepared to order, which explains my main complaint... it takes a long time to receive your dishes. Because there are not too many tables, this can cause longer than usual wait times. But everything else... read more

I selected this restaurant based on previous TripAdvisor reviews and was very, very disappointed. Service was okay. I liked our waitress, but she wasn’t very attentive. The décor was okay. The actual prices at the restaurant were at least $3-4 more than the menu on the TripAdvisor site (a 25% difference). My husband ordered a specialty hamburger with Portuguese sauce.... More

We went here before a concert, because the place we planned on was closed. This was a good alternative. Crowded for 5:30 on a Sunday, but we got a table. I had hoped for better seafood, but our hammer and calamari pasta were both good,if not low fat.

To New Bedford on Sun night for a show at the lovely Zeiterion theater. Dinner first. No trouble with on street parking downtown. Discover Freestone Grill. Impressive dark wood interior. Nice booth seating. Quick service. "Healthy" menu items on back. Had snazzy Portuguese calamari and their cranberry chicken salad. Generous portion. Long Trail IPA. Massive pile of carrot cake for... I'm not sure why this place is so highly rated. I had the Caesar salad with Buffalo Chicken. I should have thought that through given that I'm not a fan of buffalo wings. There was a smallish chicken breast in the salad drenched in hot sauce. The hot sauce kind of contaminated the salad. The lettuce in the salad was... More

Went to the Freestone for lunch today with my colleague. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had a tuna sandwich and kale soup. Both were good. This place has a great feel. I would definitely return.

I went for lunch with my wife on a Monday. It was pretty quiet. We ordered the Portuguese calamari which was pretty good. The rest of the food was more like diner food and really nothing special. We were somewhat disappointed after reading some of the reviews that we had seen online. Overall I don't think we would return since... More

By far one of the best dining experiences in the downtown area in New Bedford Whaling Museum. Selection of unique dishes and awesome clam chowder. Friendly service far above the norm. Try it!! You'll never be disappointed!!!

I have been to this restaurant on more than one occasion and am never disappointed. The food is excellent, both the specials and their signature dishes. The service is great, servers are professional but not afraid to show their happy personalities either. You never feel rushed and your never waiting too long for food or server attention. Very good experience... More
