The Shawmut Diner was a classic diner and great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was run for the last 20 yuears or so by Phil and Celeste Paleologis for many years. They were wonderful hosts but the diner was sold in 2014 and transported to a new location outside of New Bedford for non-commercial use. Phil is also... More

We are a first time customer today, because our "regular one" is closed! We might other times go to Denny's or a Bickfords. All good for their level. Our server (waitress) was quick, adept and got it all right the first time! We will definately be back when in town!

My family has been dining here since the 1950's. The food was then, and still is now, delicious. This is a true and historic New England Diner. When dining here you get a feeling that you have gone back in time or perhaps into a museum. Friendly service, great food and real value for your money.

This place looks pretty clean the staff very courteous, that's what most like. what I didn't like was that I asked for a my breakfast in a certain way and it was the opposite but it was good and tasty.

There was 2 of us. We both ordered fried eggs over medium and all 5 eggs were uncooked. With the meal you received hash brown potatoes. They are lightly seasoned to blend with most tates buds but very uncooked. The coffee was ok as was the corn beef hash. We had to keep asking for service, even going as far... More

My husband and daughter and I went for breakfast on our way to the cape. We had gone to college many years ago in the area and used to breakfast at this diner. It was still the same warm place, great diner setting, and good diner breakfast with portuguese influence. Wait staff was friendly, servings and yummy...

Love the breakfasts - strawberry waffles, eggs, homefries -- all of it! But today we had the small fish and chips and for $5.95 and I couldn't even finish it. Great value and an authentic old diner atmosphere. A slice of how America was when we were kids.

This is a nice, basic diner. It's especially good for breakfast, although they have a fairly extensive lunch menu as well. The diner is only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, the rest of the week they close at 3pm. Any time I can get three eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, ham AND toast for $3.95, I'm happy! The...
