It was a classy restaurant that fell victim to a bad economy. The atmosphere was romantic and hopefully it will reopen soon.

No culinary creativity here. The waitress had the personality of a box of rocks and even less knowledge of the menu.

What a disappointment! It's been a long time since we had been there but remember it being good. It was cold in the building when we arrived but did warm up after about a 1/2 hour. I ordered the baked scrod and the portion was so small and it tasted fishy. It came with roasted pototoes and a vegetable, squash,... More

I have been going to Candleworks a few times a year for a number of years. It's become my favorite special occasion place. It has a lovely, warm and elegant feel to it. The food is good but not as good as the setting itself. If you want atmosphere, ask to be seated in the interior, high-back chair section. It's... More

I'm sure back in its heyday this was the go-to fine dining establishment in the New Bedford area - Since, I'm new to the area I can only assume that. I have heard that there is a new owner of Candleworks and let me tell you what a "cocky" person this is... I know this firsthand from experience and having... More

This is what our waiter asked us at the end of our meal. Needless to say from my appetizer to my entree was a complete disaster. A basic sauce like a bernaise, for my veal oscar could not be accomplished by the chef. We wish we had taken our friends suggetion and gone to another restaurant that evening.

I went in expecting an evening full of high class food and service and got everything but that. the food was cold, my steak was not cooked correctly, and the pasta was overcooked. it was overpriced and overrated. I will never go there again

I have enjoyed many a filet mignon dinner at the Candleworks over the years and have found (along with my companion, a local country club owner) it to be progressively lacking in quality and flavor. My most recent trip was the worst yet, the ambience was lacking, the temperature of the place cold and the flavor of the seafood was... More
