Happy hour -- over priced

We stopped in at 3pm. Too late for lunch. Too early for dinner. So we had to order from happy hour menu. Nice beach atmosphere. I would think its a very nice setting for dinner. But happy hour was over-priced. I ordered the ribs. Warm outside with cold interior. I get the feeling... read more

Oh yikes! This trip to Maui has been food wise a disaster! I arrive to find out 2 of my favorite restaurants are closed.Sorry people Buzz's Wharf GONE, Stella Blues GONE! My next best hope is 5 Palms.I made reservations and went with watering mouth for Mahi with Mac nuts (or any fresh fish prepared that way ) No longer on... More

This is a beautiful restaurant on one of my favorite beaches on Maui with ocean views and whale watching (in season). I have found the breakfasts (served throughout the day) to be very good and have also enjoyed the pupus - especially the ginger chicken lettuce wraps. Pupus are half off in the late afternoon so are a good value.... More

Use caution here! (View is great, food okay.) But the real story is, Seven (7) of us stopped in for happy hour, a couple of drinks and some appetizers. Our server suggested quite a few appetizers, so we asked them to be spaced out over a short period of time. She assured us they would be, then of course they... More

We have always returned to this restaurant when visiting Maui over the past 20 years and it used to be one of our favorite places to eat. While the view is still spectacular from the outside patio or inside near a window, the quality of our recent visit was far less then what we would expect from a fine dining... More

We hadn't eaten at 5 Palms for a couple years, so we went to dinner there last night because we heard there were some new things on the menu. Everything that the four of us ate was absolutely delicious, and the presentations were beautiful. Even the weather cooperated for a fabulous sunset view. Here's what we ate (and loved): ahi... We did an impromptu stop at happy hour on a Saturday. The view is spectacular if seated inside or outside which is why I rated as high as I did. The food was average. The lettuce wrap was very flavourful, the soft crab roll was good and the calamari was OK. It was lighted breaded with an Aoli sauce and... More

Another disappointment not worth half the price. I ordered the sautéed prawns and seared scallops with sweet corn risotto and lobster saffron broth. The scallops were the same color inside and out -certainly not seared. The prawns also seemed to have been cooked in the same steamer, not in a sauté pan. (You might by now gather that I was... Happy hour at this restaurant is a great deal. Good options for food and drink at a great price. But it's PACKED - so get reservations and arrive early. We didn't make reservations and got a table inside in a corner. It was super hot. We sat for 25 minutes without even water being delivered to our table. Then once... More

If you are planning to go for happy hour at one of the hotels in Wailea, avoid 5 Palms. We arrived at 3:45 and were escorted by the host through the bar and into a back area of the restaurant, that looked like it wasn't in use. It was in a corner away from the windows, where it was very... More
