We had our New Year's Eve Dinner at Lane's Privateer Inn. This was the best meal that we have experienced in a very long time, anywhere. All courses were prepared to perfection. A true dining experience. We stayed for an evening of dancing and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. This hotel has a great ambiance and offers so much. Our... More

I have traveled to the South Shore of Nova Scotia over 15 times. Lane's has been a place we have frequented for several years. One thing, the food is always very good, and even though Nova Scotia is know for their wonderful seafood, many restaurants have problems with just the basic fish and chips. Lane's does not have this problem.... More

The atmosphere was great and on the first night we sat by a window overlooking the water. The food and service were very good. In fact we returned the next night for another great experience. Their fish cakes are really good.

We had brunch at Lane's in the renovated pub. The food was excellent! I had the Eggs Benny - very nice hollandaise sauce and 'real' ham. The poached eggs were perfect. My husband had the fishcakes - he is still raving about them! The service was excellent - very friendly waiter who seems proud of where he works. The pub... More

The way in to the restaurant at Lane's Privateer Inn is typical for an Inn, but the experience you'll have here is far beyond what you might expect for a restaurant that's not just a restaurant. We can only imagine how nice the accommodations are. We were delightfully surprised with the beautiful, warm atmosphere of the restaurant. We immediately noticed... More

We enjoyed a most delicious dinner here! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was great! The setting overlooking the river was a bonus. I had ordered the fish special and asked that it come with vegetables and no starch! My order came and was perfect! A few minutes later the waiter came with another side of beautifully... More

We stopped by the restaurant as we were just looking for a place with a view of the ocean to sit and have a drink, we did not have a reservation. I doubt that I have ever been quite so rudely treated by a server EVER! She seemed angry that we had the nerve to think we could have a... More

The food was good, not extraordinary, but good. We did not have reservations as it was the off season, but we got a table. The hostess took our drink orders and it took forever for someone to finally bring the drinks. Then the waiter took the order and in time brought the food. He eventually checked on us and we... We were pretty tired when we arrived for lunch after driving all morning, so it was nice to relax in the pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. I ordered the quinoa salad, which was very good. I had asked for a half size, but the waiter apparently didn't hear me and I wound up with a large and didn't complain, though... More

Lane's has recently undergone extensive interior renovations. Past experiences here left us disappointed however we decided to give it another try having heard some positive comments from others. We dined at 6pm Saturday as a group of five adults. We were disappointed at the outset that the usual dining areas with tablecloths and better appointments were deserted, a staff member... More

Thank you so much for your review. As we undergo our renovation we welcome feedback so that we can clarify the plans for the inn. The former dining areas are available for private parties of 6- 60 people. They are the next stage of the renovation and will become a wine tasting/ formal private dining room (seating 6-20 people) and... More
