Super Fried Chicken And Catfish

A friend mentioned to me that the best place for lunch in Natchez is the Carriage House at Stanton Hall. We gave it a try and were pleasantly surprised. We had the recommended fried chicken and fried catfish dishes. Both were spectacular.

The Carriage House has consistently provided excellent food and service to me and my guests for many years. After we fly into Natchez, we almost always plan to make the Carriage House either the first or last stop. It is always scored as a high point of our visit.

I wasn't expecting the wonderful meals we enjoyed at lunch-cloth tablecloths and fresh flowers add to the ambience of this lovely room. I enjoyed the Oyster salad-a mound of Tomato aspic and corn relish is surrounded by a good amount of perfectly seasoned and fried oysters My husband chose the Blue Plate special- the grilled Black Drum fish sitting on... We go to this restaurant whenever we are in Natchez. Last visit Thanksgiving day. Wonderful experience on such a busy day.

We had lunch here after touring Stanton Hall. It was very good. My favorite thing was the silver dollar biscuits. They were melt in your mouth good! The sides I had were all very good, but the chicken fried steak was just ok. But my husband had the BLT and thought it was very good.

Delicious Southern home-cooking at the historic Stanton Hall. A perfect lunch stop while touring Natchez.

They plenty of vegetables and other southern foods as well served on white table cloths. The desserts are good as well. Its the kind of place... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a long 20th anniversary weekend in Natchez. This was our best meal. The Fried Chicken may have been the best we have had. The biscuits were perfect. I could not get enough! I also found the Grillades and Grits to rival any in New Orleans. The Butter Peas and Sweet Corn Pudding were outstanding.... More

More than an excellent meal - an experience. Get here before church lets out and it gets busy, fill your plate with all kinds of tantalizing things, then sit back and eat as you watch the friendly locals arrive. We haven't had fried chicken like this since our southern grandmas passed. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Grandma Effie... More

This restaurant is in the carriage house behind Stanton Hall. The service is charming, the fried chicken and biscuits are delicious. Lunch only.
