My husband and I stayed at Monmouth for the second time. The dining rooms are opulent and truly represent the antebellum splendor expected. We had the five course dinner. I had the fried green tomato appetizer, creamy squash soup, arugula salad, and a fish filet topped with corn, andouie sausage and crab meat. All very average, except the fish which I... More

The food here is over-priced but it is good. Still it is over-priced though, service is excellent. Highly recommend the steaks!

This restaurant at the historic Monmouth Inn is a perfect setting for a romantic evening. The food ranges from fair to excellent, but the setting was fantastic. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes appetizer that is served with lump crab meat and the steak was also quite good, however the salads were only average and desserts were limited. The... The restaurant was busy when we visited, but the owner opened up the main dining room for us and another couple. The setting is fantastic and the courtyard is a loverly place for a pre dinner drink. We both went for the rib eye which was good but our companions had the filet which looked better. The food is good... More

The grounds of this hotel are just beautiful. Be sure to leave plenty of time for a stroll before or after your meal. There is a lovely courtyard for cocktails as well. The restaurant is small and perfect for an antebellum home. All important china and silver. The food was good and they had good wine by the glass!

This is a spectacular place that always feels like an old friend and is a reminder of old times that should not be forgotten. The historic atmosphere cannot be duplicated and for those of us who have a long history of coming there makes each visit feel special.. The food was great. Shirley's service was fine and Carol, the Assistant... More

The house/restaurant is gorgeous, but they need some help in the kitchen raising it to the level to which they aspire. It is not a big menu, and the choices are fine, but boy do they need some lessons on plating things and making the food more elegant appearing. For example, the fried green tomatoes had two slices, but only... More

We stayed at Monmouth Valentine weekend 2014. Can't imagine a more romantic, elegant place to be! Fabulous food, fantastic waiters. Expect it to be expensive, but well worth the $$$.
