Wonderful Surprise

My wife and I were on our way back to San Francisco when we came upon the Buckeye Roadhouse and decided to stop for dinner. It looked nice from the outside so we quickly checked the reviews on TA and gave it a try. The valet was polite and welcoming. As we walked in, we saw the bar was buzzing... read more

Great atmosphere and delicious food. Can be a little noisy. Had the Seabass special with spinach and others in our party had steak. Hi marks all around. Recommend reservations.

Lively atmosphere with a "old money" feel. Service is friendly, efficient and the servers knowledgeable about the menu. Don't be fooled by the "roadhouse" title because it doesn't represent the quality of the food. They use locally grown food and the cuisine is Californian with their own touches that make a dish unique. An example was the shoe string onion... More

Good selection of locally grown sustainably farmed organic foods. Yummy and satisfying. A little pricey, but good for a nice dinner out.

We arrived early ~ about 5:30pm. By 6:30 it was packed and very very loud. If you plan to do business arrive early. If you're going for fun and good food - this is a great spot.

We've been here three times now, on various trips to the San Fran area. This time with family - we sat in the bar/lounge area for the first time. Service was excellent, as was the food - each time its been a 5-star experience. Access and parking is a bit tricky but worth it - nice views and ambiance.

The ambience of the Buckeye Roadhouse suggests you're in for something special, but unfortunately the food and service didn't really deliver on the promise. The best parts of our experience were the smoked chicken wings (which we did as an appetizer, and were wonderfully crispy and smokey) and the inventive cocktails. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was a bit... More

Nice place, I liked the atmosphere. Service was eh not too personable. Food was good but not great, especially for the price. Steak is wood grilled which I'm not a fan of.

For that very special occasion you cannot beat the Buckeye Roadhouse. Located in an old Speak Easy from the Prohibition era of San Francisco, you feel as if you have stepped back in time when you enter the front door. Wood paneling throughout the establishment, the old wood long bar, a huge crackling wood burning fireplace, service that is the... More

I live right by the Buckeye. I love their food. The beef brisket is as good if not better than mine. and I'm a prof. cook. Their Oysters Bingo and their onion rings are tooooooo much.
