Good but not great

Nice place, I liked the atmosphere. Service was eh not too personable. Food was good but not great, especially for the price. Steak is wood grilled which I'm not a fan of.

For that very special occasion you cannot beat the Buckeye Roadhouse. Located in an old Speak Easy from the Prohibition era of San Francisco, you feel as if you have stepped back in time when you enter the front door. Wood paneling throughout the establishment, the old wood long bar, a huge crackling wood burning fireplace, service that is the... More

I live right by the Buckeye. I love their food. The beef brisket is as good if not better than mine. and I'm a prof. cook. Their Oysters Bingo and their onion rings are tooooooo much.

Friends brought us to this very busy place! We waited about an hour for a table (even the bar was full), but were able to pass the time sipping drinks in the waiting area. All our meals were good. The waitress recommended the chicken. I was hesitant as I usually prefer only chicken breast, but it was delicious.

Name the places you can take 3 generations, and please everyone.... Name the places you can find classics and nouvelle cuisine... name the places you can bring your Tori Buch, Birkenstock, Eddie Bauer and St. John friends and family and satisfy everyone.... This is it.... parking is valet... cumbersome, but hey....

It's not always true that a restaurant is consistent time and time again. The Buckeye is an example of a recipe that you just don't want to change. Food deliciously consistent, service from the front reception to the wait staff is professional and flawless. On a Tuesday night, midweek- the restaurant was packed with tables turning over around us. Compliments... More

I've eaten here several times because friends have chosen it. Some of the dishes here are good, and some are mediocre. The food is unimaginative, and the prices are quite high. I've never understood why this restaurant is so popular, but it is. The parking lot is always packed.

Very nice looking restaurant from the exterior with charming details that should put it in one of those Thomas Kinkade paintings. Parked on the street to avoid the good 20 minutes for the valet parking system to sort itself out. Admittedly, this was probably one of their busier days but it's always a good indicator that if the front of... More

We waited 9 minutes before our server, Jessica greeted us. We were never offered water. We ordered an appetizer and our meal. At no time, did she ask how the appetizer or our meal was. She never offered dessert but just placed the dessert menus in front of us. She returned 5 minutes later and smiled, never spoke to us... More

Terrific place. Busy, nice crowd, good service. Delicious sea bass...and fresh oysters on the half shell. And onion rings. Did I mention top quality desserts? First time here... I loved it.
