Two (former) professional cooks and three civilians celebrated a few birthdays and we were all happy with our dinners. There were a few missteps in service as more than once we were brought the wrong food and getting water seemed to be an issue. However, the artichoke and salad starters were lovely and main courses were wonderful. Best polenta ever... More

We went there to celebrate a couple of birthdays with friends. Very nostalgic-lodge- like, COZY built in the 1920's I believe, Try the smoked chicken wings as an appetizer. The best I have ever tasted. Service was friendly and awesome. Our waiter was very engaging and funny. If you are in the Bay area, don't miss this one!

I have not dined in this restaurant in 20 years. I was recently here for a private party. They have not lost it. Food was wonderful and the service even better. Great ambiance. If you get out on this side of the Golden Gate bridge do not miss. I've never had a bad meal in this establishment, if they have... More

It can be a bit noisy in the big dining area. I prefer the upstairs or the bar. The food is always great. Try the oyster bingo and you will lick the shells it's so good.

Have given parties here that had fabulous food & eat here often. From oysters bingo to Duck hash it cannot be beat! Be sure to save room for dessert!

We stopped by here after spending a couple hours hiking in Muir Woods. The food was excellent, including some interesting drink creations (cucumber!) and a special of pulled pork. A great way to relax with good food, attentive service, and good atmosphere.

What a great stop on the way home from a San Francisco theater matinee. Buckeye is now my go-to spot for after a day or afternoon in "the City." Our dinner tonight was perfect--well, the food, anyway. For two couples, we tried three different entrees and three different salads. Each was excellent. The women shared both salad and entrée--and we... More

The Buckeye has been a family favorite for many, many years. The crispy onion rings with house made ketchup are a must have. Incredibly thin, individual rings are delicately battered and fried to perfection. The house made ketchup packs a little heat. From the smokehouse, the ribs are succulent and never disappoint. My son enjoyed these for perhaps the 100th... More

Recently went for dinner with six people. We felt rushed and pushed by the wait staff. Forgot water for the table after being asked, never served bread. Our waitress forgot one of the appetizers, and then tried to bring it at the same time as our dinners. The food was "passable" but nothing very special. The fish special was supposedly... More

This is a very nice old roadhouse restaurant in the bay area. Our drinks and food were excellent. I have to have gluten free meals so we have to skip the bread. I ordered the scallops with polenta. It had 4 scallops and an ice cream scoop of polenta, nothing else. All restaurants serve a dish with protein, starch, and... More
