Functional but nothing outstanding.

Although I have been a patron for some years I would never contemplate frequenting it for a special occasion. The food is tasty, with an extensive choice of fish and the staff, with one or two notable exceptions, are friendly and efficient. I would not describe the prices as extortionate but for... read more

Went for my birthday and there were 6 of us in total we all had fillet steak and I have to say they were exceptional. They were cooked to perfection service was excellent lovely atmosphere no rushing us once we finished and I would be back in a flash.

Very happy with the food quality and display. We couldn't fault it and had a lovely mid day lunch. My only complaint is one of the waiters called David. Incase there is more than one he is the chap with his name tattooed in big writing on his right forearm. How we still sat down and ordered lunch after speaking... More

We went here for a family celebration last Sunday lunchtime and found it to be really disappointing. They didn't have the first 5 dishes we tried to order! The salad bar was mostly just carrot and celery sticks too chunky to fit in the bowl. The lamb cawl was disgusting, fatty and way too salty - especially when we ordered... More

Our party of 14 good chums decided to spend a few nights in Cardiff this year so we took a boat across to Penarth and stopped for mid morning Coffee on the terrace of the Custom House. one of our party spotted the display of fish and meats for the restaurant and the decision was made there and then to... We visited El Puertos in Custom House to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding anniversary. I am always a little wary of taking my 3 children to restaurants but I needn't have worried. we were seated just off the main section which meant we didn't disturb anyone if the children became a bit restless. The food, a traditional Sunday lunch, was... More

Just really awful. The service was rude and the food was bad . When we complained the manager was aggressive and patronising . We had a really special family event utterly ruined . Just avoid at all costs !

We were here two weeks ago to celebrate my mum's birthday, we were a large party for an evening meal. The whole meal from start to finish was really nice. If I was going to criticize it was a little slow coming out but we were a large party of 16, and it was a busy Friday nite. We will... More

So sad to see this lovely restaurant going downhill. On last 3 visits very disappointed, poor choice of set menu, 3 desserts sold out, at 2.00p.m., poor service, general sloppy attitude .unwelcoming atmosphere. Such a shame.

We use this place a lot. The food is consistently good. The steaks a cooked to perfection and the choice of fresh fish cooked to order is excellent. Sunday lunch is good value too.
