Staff are pleasant, that is the positive point. There are few food options in town but avoid this place. This is not home cooked food and after we sat, we realized the place was pretty empty. You have to feel for an owner trying to make a living but there is little to say positive. trying to keep it simple... More

It is rare that I give a poor review ( mainly because I check out Trip Advisor first ) but our breakfast experience at the Railhead Family Restaurant was not pleasant. The coffee was cold, the eggs were cold, the bacon was cold, and the sevice was luke warm. Too many other places from which to choose. It could have... More

I wish I had read the reviews before my family was seated for lunch. It was not very busy at all. I had the BLT. The bacon was not cooked well. One of my kids got a cheeseburger. She said it didn't taste good and she only are a few bites.

Far from the "family restaurant" that they advertise. No buffet despite what all of their signs say. Salad bar consisted if lettuce, cheese, eggs, and ranch dressing. They advertise that everything is homemade but it was obvious that it all came out of a can or was microwaved....and our whole meal was ice cold. Not to mention the staff that... More

It was alright, it was edible, but nothing spectacular. Server was very friendly though. I had French dip. It was okay, but the au jus was just broth with a lot fat floating on top. Not very flavorful. Décor was outdated, not like 1880s, but 1980s. We will try something else next time.

The food seemed like a good deal considering it was 13 dollars for a chicken fried steak, "vegetables," a dinner roll, mashed potatoes, salad bar, and toast, so that's what I ordered (there weren't too many options). So I walked over to the salad bar and knew at that moment that I made a big mistake coming here. The "salad"... More

We ate here, and none of our food was very good. I had the BLT and the bacon was so undercooked it was disgusting. Portions were small, and there were flies everywhere.

It was a nice place to eat right across from the 1880 train depot. There were not many people there in the restaurant so it was nice an quiet. Our server was nice and friendly.

Where do we begin? The server was a lovely foreign exchange student who was very helpful and friendly. And that's where the good stuff ends. My husband ordered rainbow trout w/salad bar baked potato, and veggie. the corn that was served was brown. Yes, brown. it apparently didn't taste like corn. at all. and we're from Illinois, we kinda know... More
