One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The Lodge was closing for the season the next day but you would never had know it by the quality service and excellent food.

Originally visited the Powder House Lodge back in '95 when a vendor who's a native SD told me about it. We visited per his recommendation and were not disappointed. We did indeed have the primed rib that night. Fast forward to 2014, bringing teenage daughters with us this time as well as travel companion family. We all agreed we wanted... More

We were a party of two couples. We stopped here for breakfast in route from Deadwood to Mt. Rushmore. This worked out great as the breakfast was outstanding. The servings were good size and the service excellent. Very pleased that we happened upon such a great place for breakfast.

First impressions were excellent. Beautiful location, facility, and ambiance. The wait staff was extremely professional. My impression was that the GM of the restaurant has managed high end facilities before. Unfortunately, that is where the positive impression ends. The food was below average at a reasonable price and down right poor at the prices they are charging. It is truly... More

We were told about this restaurant when we checked into our hotel by the desk clerk. We ended up eating there both nights of our stay. The food was excellent and so was the service.

The desk clerk at our hotel recommended the Powder House Restaurant for dinner. It was only a few miles from downtown Keystone. We are so glad we chose to eat there! The food was exceptional and the prices were incredibly reasonable. We ate dinner there both nights we were in the Mt. Rushmore area. The servings were very generous and... More

Excellent restaurant with good food and service. Had the prime rib and elk burger. Elk is hard to cook without getting dry - was done well. Convenient to Keystone and a recommended spot for a good meal.

Hubby and I like to experiment when we travel and try new meats and fowl. This was the place to stop and enjoy all kinds of local game. I had the evening special of pheasant breast cooked in Apple brandy sauce that was absolutely delicious. Hubby chose the buffalo ribs and we both were happy. We tried to go back... More

This is fine dining at it's best in a casual atmosphere with good prices. The evening chef is to be complimented. We ate two dinners here and felt the meal was outstanding. Because the dinners were so good we went back in the mornings for breakfast. We tried their bison and fish and could not have been more satisfied. Don;'t... More

We are locals and had never eaten there as it is only open during tourist season. We went one evening just before it closed for the season. The service was good, the menu surprisingly diverse for a restaurant of this type. The prices were higher than I expected but the chicken and shrimp fettucini dish was passable. Another individual had... More
