This is our one "must visit" restaurant in the Black Hills area. The ambiance and food are both fabulous! Our family has been eating here for almost 50 years and are always thrilled with our meal. The prime rib is out of this world! We highly recommend visiting the Powder House.

Found this place online while researching our visit to the Mt Rushmore area. Stopped for dinner on Sunday evening after a long day of driving and sightseeing and were happy to be seated at a nice corner table in the quiet front room. Atmosphere is comfortable lodge casual, service was polished and friendly, interesting varied menu. I had excellent fish... More

Took the family here while on vacation. The whole wait staff was attentive to all our needs. Even if it was not there table, when they walked by they asked if everything was well, and helped our waitress re-fill our drinks. Then our food came, we all stuffed ourselves, and wanted more. This is a Gem of a place. Get... More

The best prime rib ever. The cabin type accommodations were excellent. Service from all was excellent. We return on next trip.

This place is great. A relaxed and informal, yet elegant five-star meal. A bit pricey - but what you would expect for something this great

We went on a Saturday night, and there was a 35-minute wait, so be sure to make a reservation. Food and service were superb! Very casual and family friendly, but also great for couples. Their buffalo stew was the best dish I had on a 2-week vacation that included a few high-end restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

Oh man, their breakfast burrito was amazing! It was huge! I tried buffalo for the first time here and really liked it. They did not rip you off for orange juice, some place charge 4 dollars, but this place was only 2. The waitress Kelly was super nice and attentive. They also have a little gift shop connected to the... More

We stayed at the Powder House Lodge so we ate here twice, the night we arrived and the morning we left. The dinner service was slightly better than the breakfast service. The menu for dinner had more variety, including buffalo and other wild game, steaks, chicken, seafood and pasta. Breakfast offerings were standard fare, but still delicious. Guests staying at... We have ate at the Powder House many times over the last 5 years on trips out to the Black Hills. It has the food and service of a fine dining establishment but you can go there in shorts and a t-shirt. The staff is friendly, well read on the the menu and specials and service is A-One. The prices... More
