Let's be honest, there are some better or more fun places to eat in the Keystone/Hill City area. But if you are spending a few hours at Mount Rushmore, Carvers has decent food to get you through. The buffalo burger is good.

I had the buffalo stew. It was okay, but I added some tabasco and salt/pepper to give it a little kick. I wanted to have a glass of South Dakota wine with it, but they only had the regular stuff in the small bottles. The South Dakota versions were only sold by the bottle. There was a terrific view of... More

We had dinner here the night of July 3. It is pricey, but the convenience more than made up for the price. We quickly figured out that travel in this area of the country is difficult when it comes to food, and having a restaurant on site like this was a welcome site. Lots of hot and cold offerings, and... It was convenient since it was right there at Mt. Rushmore and we were hungry after walking the presidential trail. The food was ok, mostly hamburgers and hot dogs with a few hot offerings. Stew was ok. Would be better if they offered fresh sandwiches and salads.

The food here was good and filling - I had buffalo stew which was quite tasty. The views from our outside patio table were very nice of Mount Rushmore. Its a good way to see the memorial when you want to relax and just enjoy lunch and looking at the details of the four presidents. It took less than 10... More

The food was good, reasonably priced for a tourist attraction. The flow of the hot meal counter was a little confusing, but fortunately we were there in the off season so not very busy. I think if it were crowded, it might be a little more awkward to go through the line. Cool dining room with views of the monument,... More

The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The selections are nice and not overly priced. They also have ice cream which is very good especially on a warm sunny day! The cafe is clean and the staff friendly. The atmosphere is Great as you can sit, relax, and enjoy your meal while looking at the Monument.

We only ate here because we were on a senior tour and this was our attraction/lunch stop. My husband and I ate here last year and the food was just as bad then. This time my husband ordered the Yankee pot roast which was just mediocre but the potatoes tasted like canned potatoes. He said he would not order it... More

The food was good, but the view was great. There was a good selection of food at this cafeteria-style restaurant and it was dished-up quickly by pleasant staffers. For an on-site restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted and that is was not terribly over-priced (except, perhaps, for the ice cream). The only down-side were the dirty... More
