Now this is National Park food, so don't get crazy here. But for what I expected, this place far exceeded. Try the buffalo burger and a sample of Thomas Jefferson's own Ice Cream recipe.

Decent food served with a smile from a multitude of cafeteria-style stations. Walk around to look at them all, or risk being disappointed by your first choice. Beer and wine is available for the grown-ups and there's a nice ice cream stand next door for the kids. There are some tables with some very nice views. The tables without the... More

You can find anything to eat here that you want, but we wished we had waited and just had a grilled hot dog outside. Not to take anything away from the cafe, but the lines were long, the food was very good but expensive and they were out of a few things by the time our group got there. The... More

There is a very simple menu that includes burgers and fries. They also had BBQ sandwich special, a chicken sandwich, and hot dogs. The food was fine, no real complaints, just not a lot of variety.

Eat among all the flags of the 50 states, pictures of presidents, and some of the best buffalo stew I've ever tried, Grab an ice cream or even a personal bottle of wine! Seriously, this is a fun, funky cafe full of history, a dash of kitsch, and taste-bud worthy faire for a memorial cafe. I'd recommend, and have been... More

Mt. Rushmore has made an amazing national monument that everyone should go see. It's spectacular. They have a full service cafeteria on site which is very nice inside with huge glass windows that look upon Rushmore and an outdoor patio which is quite scenic. The food is so-so. Nothing great. If you could bring food and sit outside, you'd like... More

This is a decent place to take a break and grab a bite to eat while visiting Mount Rushmore. This is a buffet style restaurant and most entrees cost under $10. The hamburger and hot dog station is located when you first walk into the restaurant. People may not realize other stations are located further back. We missed the buffalo... More

Let's be honest, there are some better or more fun places to eat in the Keystone/Hill City area. But if you are spending a few hours at Mount Rushmore, Carvers has decent food to get you through. The buffalo burger is good.

I had the buffalo stew. It was okay, but I added some tabasco and salt/pepper to give it a little kick. I wanted to have a glass of South Dakota wine with it, but they only had the regular stuff in the small bottles. The South Dakota versions were only sold by the bottle. There was a terrific view of... More

We had dinner here the night of July 3. It is pricey, but the convenience more than made up for the price. We quickly figured out that travel in this area of the country is difficult when it comes to food, and having a restaurant on site like this was a welcome site. Lots of hot and cold offerings, and...
