Lovely restaurant

I went to the Prickly Pear with my husband and daughter. The service was great, friendly and attentive. A good simple menu, as well as some interesting specials, all reasonably priced. The food was delicious and portion size just right. A top meal and will definitely be back.

Went there for a meal with Mrs B, as she had been there before, first impressions were good. Whisked upstairs to a table, that was ours for the night - no rush, definite brownie points there! So all was, almost well, the trouble with having any kind of themed restaurant is you can limit yourselves and ultimately the clientèle to... More

We really enjoyed everything about the evening, the ambience, the friendly helpful staff and the food, cocktails and background music The Prickly Pear reminded us of restaurants we visited when we lived Cologne in Germany. We think Bishops Stortford is very fortunate to have such a little gem of an independent Mexican restaurant.

Finally made it to the Prickly Pear, we've been meaning to try it for months...based solely on the tripadvisor reviews. We booked an early table, it was quiet when we arrived although by the time we left there were a dozen customers. The ambience was nice, staff were friendly although we were irked that they wouldn't allow us to sit... More

We took my elderly dad and our 11 year old son one evening during the week at about 7pm. Food was very nice, not too much or too little. Decent choice and very good service. We were one of just a few groups in the restaurant. It was fairly quiet. We enjoyed the window seat - the restaurant is upstairs... More

We needed something special for a family dinner with our 4 children but we didn't want the same old menu that the high street offers. We went to Prickly Pear in Bishops Stortford. We got a table for 18:00 knowing that the first 2 hours on a Friday should be fine before it gets busy. The atmosphere was warm and... More

Used to come here all the time and loved it so I ignored some of the bad reviews and decided to go back. Unfortunately I should've listened to them. We had booked a table a week in advance but when we arrived they said it wasn't ready and we had to wait downstairs for 10 minutes with no offer of... More

The PP has a limited menu with a small number of specials on offer - to be honest a limited menu is always better as too much choice is never a good thing! We ordered the 2 sharing platters to start and an extra bowl of chicken wings. The platters were a plate of nachos with beef chilli, guac and... More

Tucked away in a nice corner of Bishop's Stortford this is definitely a little gem in the town. Very small but good atmosphere. Started with the sharing nachos which were a good size and cajun chicken for main which was cooked to perfection! Definitely will be going back!
