Great food but too loud

We went this weekend to try the newly renovated Tasting Room. The food was excellent. We had the lobster chowder which was chucked full of lobster and the Veal Duo. However, when we asked very nicely to remake a Cosmo she became very annoyed and even argued with us . It was very uncomfortable... read more

2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2015 NEW

I have been to the Tasting Room several times and had always been fairly satisfied despite the sometimes pretentious wait staff and the inflated prices. This week I invited six people for dinner there and four out of six dinners were so salty they were inedible. The wait staff were cooperative and resubmitted our order but the second time around... We tried The "new" Tasting Room recently after its complete makeover. We have been huge fans and frequent diners for years. However, we were very disappointed. It used to be an establishment of fine dining. Now, it feels more like a cafeteria with its drab gray color theme, harsh lightening, and hard Formica chairs. Our entrees were little more than... We had a reservation for 830 tonight. We wanted to try it since their recent rennovations. We had enjoyed dining there in the past. We arrived at 840 and as soon as we walked in were struck by the extreme noise. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, which was a table near the toilets- you could see into the... More

Two business associates and I had a memorable lunch at the Tasting Room in historic Frederick, Maryland. The quality of the food was matched by the attentive, polite server Jeff. An order that included an amazingly fresh salad, salmon cakes, mashed potatoes and the finishing touch chocolate sorbet was delicious and delivered with perfect, paced timing. Other members of our... I had a lunch appointment scheduled with a customer in Frederick. He suggested the Tasting Room for lunch. And I must say it was delightful. Newly remodeled, trendy decor and on spot service made it a great 1st time experience. We both had the lobster chowder; rich and creamy with delicious chunks of lobster. Although I thought is was a... More

The food is always spot on. Staff is attentive without being pretentious. Our favorite place for special occasions. I usually go for whatever fish is on special, but the steaks are always good as well. The crab cakes are my wife's favorite in Frederick. The atmosphere is lively and the room can be a bit noisy with the tall ceilings.... More

Food is always good. Lobster Bisque is VERY rich and full of lobster, filet mignon is tasty, foie gras is excellent when on the menu, scallops are very good as well and the specials are fresh and delicious. Some of the servers are not trained in service for fine dining, and on a few occasions we were pushed out because... More

I have eaten at the Tasting Room several times, and every meal has been excellent. Their filet mignon is perhaps the best that I have ever had (and I live in Chicago), and the duck is also excellent. Very good wine list with quite a number of interesting bottles. Service is also excellent -- attentive without being overbearing. You can... More
