Note to Bryan Voltaggio: Your "baby" needs a little attention from you. We love Bryan V. Watched him on Top Chef, been to Volt, and met him once. So, we wanted to try out his concept for lunch fully independent from Volt in Frederick, Maryland. Unless you are familiar with the city (town) Lunchbox is hard to find. Inquiries of... More

I have tried everything except the mushroom sandwich and I would recommend a visit. A nice, hot, fresh pressed sandwich for under $8. I love the grilled cheese in particular, with the tomato and bean soup! All of the other sandwiches were yummy. You can be a serious food critic and find problems - some have said, and I agree,... After a few meals at Volt I was looking forward to something special in a more casual setting at a lower price point. This was not it. I had the pastrami sandwich and it was average at best. I just finished a cross country road trip and ate at any number of off the road restaurants and this was average... More

This is a beautiful setting on a small canal in downtown Frederick. The café is very clean and tables face the canal for eating and people watching. The cafe services sandwiches, chips, drinks etc. After placing my order I sat down to watch the people stroll by. I noticed a group of women being served sandwiches that were all grilled.... More

The sandwiches were quite disappointing. Terrible taste combinations, hard bread, not the best cut of pork/meat. We tried 3 different kinds and were not impressed.

I had lunch there with a friend and my daughter. The pricing is good and the sandwiches are great. The bread is tasty and everything is served heated. My daughter and I had a grilled cheese and our friend had the fruit and cheese plate and salad. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were good. The only odd thing was... More

This is a super casual spot owned by Brian Voltaggio, runner up in Bravo's Top Chef competition a few years ago. His other two restaurants in Frederick are more upscale. By design, this one is a casual cafe where customers can get healthy, delicious homemade soups, salads, and unique sandwiches. A terrific place for a quick lunch. A number of... More

We have enjoyed several lunches at Lunchbox and are always impressed with how great the sandwiches taste.

Love the soups and the interesting pressed sandwich options. If the weather is nice, get your order to go and sit on the benches along the creek. It's a nice way to have an impromptu daytime Volt experience without the 6 month reservation wait.

As a fan of Bryan Voltaggio from Top Chef, my friend and I made a special trip out to Frederick just to eat at one of his restaurants. Even though this is the most casual of the ones he operates, we were not disappointed! I had a delicious pulled pork sandwich for lunch at a very affordable cost, and we... More
