Light and crumbly and loaded with fruits and nuts, the scones are always delightful. The new ham and cheese roll comes in a close second. If you just want bread, try the multigrain dinner rolls or the challah.

Sweet or savory, I love the baked goods at Stone Hearth! Can't beat an early morning walk in downtown Frederick before shops and people are awake with a stop at Stone Hearth for pastry and coffee. They also visit the Frederick and Shepherdstown Farmers markets!

I've had many of their breads and pastries and haven't had any complaints! Love their empanadas too!

...great baked goods. I had a wonderful cranberry/orange scone and my dining partner had a cherry tart. Each of my dining companions took home wonderful breads. This place reminds me of bakeries from days gone by. Nothing fancy or show about them, but glass cases that tempt you and a couple of tables for those of us that can't wait... More

Drove by this bakery on our way back from a camping trip and decided to give it a try. Delicous pastries and fresh, soft, mouth-watering bread. I've been twice now, both on roadtrips back home to DC. Had a canoli and oatmeal raisin cookie the first time, which were both amazing. Then tried the almond croissant and rosemary bread, which... More

Wandering around the area and stumbled across this. Stopped in and bought a loaf of the sunflower bread and wasn't disappointed with the flavor, though the price was a little higher than I would expect. Maybe normal for the area.

When you first walk in, your hit with a big whif of mold! Once you overcome that, you see a beautiful display of pastries and baked goods. Don't get excited about any fruit covered pies/tarts as there is ONLY one layer of fruit. Kind of disappointing. The pastries are a tad over priced and the breads are so-so. Also, unlike... More

"It's just bread" Well,,Ok. But, for people that like quality bread, this product is rare. Frederick is lucky. Thanks.

I bought the multigrain and raisin and cranberry loaves and both were wonderful. Crusty outside, moist inside. Very flavorful. Loaves are around $4,75 each which is very fair these days. Also had a beef and onion empanada and a cherry tart. These people know how to do dough!

I stumbled on Stone Hearth during the morning of a snow storm when nearly everything in Frederick had closed. I walked in and asked, "Why are you open?" the baker responded, "We've been here baking all night, why would we close now?" The gentleman who helped me was very friendly. I bought two delicious empanadas. I wasn't expecting such yummy... More
