The first time I visited this restaurant, I would have rated it 5 stars. The past three visits, however, have been increasingly disappointing. The service is spotty, sometimes taking up to 15 minutes to get it, and other times sterling. (I have found this with many restaurants when I dine solo). But the food is really where it starts to... I met two friends I hadn't seen in a long while here and it was the first visit for each of us. Having free off-street parking in a downtown area is a bonus. The place was very casual, clean, simple and smart decor and great older rock music playing at just the right volume. We wanted to catch up over... More

Black Hog has the best pork BBQ around. So tender and tasty. Very affordable. I would never turn down the opportunity to eat here. Ever.

Keeping in mind I'm from Frederick, not Memphis or Kansas City....This is the best BBQ in Frederick. Family owned business, rustic feel inside, service is always great. They make all the meats in the smoke house behind the building which smells pretty darn good when they bring the fire into the building. The building is an old building with a... More

This is favorite place of mine to go after church on Sunday. The menu is short but oh, so good. Regional specialties from all over the US. The sampler plate is also a good bet if you can't decide or if you want a kickstart for your walk through the menu. Haven't had anything yet that I would not recommend.

Stopped for dinner here after moving our son into the area. We've eaten here many times with friends and just hubby and I. Didn't realize I haven't ever done a review, so here goes... Great casual atmosphere, fantastic barbecue. On this Saturday evening, the place was filled to capacity with folks standing at both the doors waiting for seats. Their... More
