VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques. VOLT's relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color palette that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.

Special!

I would highly recommend this restaurant if you love food and have an slightly adventurous pallet. Chef can make anything taste good, but he has high quality ingredients and it shows. This place is an experience, not just a restaurant.

The only reason I don't give this place a 5 star is that it's a long drive to Fredrick. We went there on a friends recommendation that it was worth the drive - I say no. But if this place were in my neck of the woods I'd be a regular. It was a little pricey for eating there all... More

My best friend and I went to Volt for my birthday; sat at Table 21- the chefs table; had the wine pairing. The highlight of the evening was Frankie- Maitre D. He explained each course with precision, humor and authenticity. His description of each plate at times was better than the actual tasting- sadly. Some tasting lacked a distinctive voice-... More

We often visit family in Gaithersburg and have found dining at Volt to be the highlight of our dining in the area. It is well worth the drive. The food is creative and always good and the decor is pleasant and relaxed.

Volt is a trendy, small portion, high price restaraunt. During our visit we opted for the wine flights with the portions. Honestly there isn't enough food to decide whether something is good or not. A thimble of wine barely quenches the mouth and does nothing to enhance the tiny food portion. Bread is served. Once. We had to beg for... More

We were so excited to get reservations at the chef's table. Both foodies, we couldn't wait to see what we'd be presented and to observe serious creativity at work. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be what we hoped. Many of the dishes repetitively used the same base ingredients and flavors. Though beautiful, each plate seemed more impressed with itself... We had reservations and arrived early. We were directed to the lounge to wait until our table was ready. After a short wait we were seated. The decor is very nice and the restaurant has a very upscale feel but I can't help but feel that they are trying too hard to be hip and trendy. The wait staff are... More

We made our reservation at least a month in advance (maybe longer) and had looked forward to celebrating our anniversary at this destination eatery. We flew to DC, stayed at one of the best DC hotels and rented a car specifically to make the journey to Volt. Our reservation was at 8:30 and we arrived early to have a drink... More

The wait staff was cold, maybe that is the norm for a place like this. I'm from iowa and this is the fanciest place I've ever been too. Food was amazing but portions tiny, not a good value.

We had a great time here for a special anniversary. Felt pampered, enjoyed the beautiful old building with the high ceilings and well-decorated rooms. Nothing overdone nor too-minimalist either. Just light and bright and comfortable. We came for Sunday brunch and the highlights for us were the perfect Bloody Mary (our only beverage and the best I've ever had), the... More
