Description: Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

This was the second visit to Firestone's and I was just impressed with the food and service as the first time. We were there again for the Farm to Table week appetizers, meals, and dessert were all inclusive of ingredients from local producers. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about the food- we had reservations and were seated directly.

Firestone was positioned to us as a sports bar with upscale food. Not so much of either. Food was ok, nothing special. Oysters were excellent; crab cakes fair. Paid much more than we received in value.

Located on a busy street with galleries, stores and dining. Had live music during a weekend lunch time meal. The meals was very good, not spectacular. The staff adapted well to request for changes in menu choices. The meals was prepared quickly. Comfortable stop during time on this main strip. Upstairs seating gives you a view of the strolling district.

This restaurant had been recommended to me by friends so I decided to give it a try and have my small(party of 4)birthday celebration there. Everything about it was first class. We were given an upstairs table where we could people watch while having drinks and enjoying great conversation. A small jazz trio played live on the first floor which... More

Firestone in downtown Frederick labels itself as a "Culinary Tavern". It is certainly that and more. It has elements of a sports bar, but subdued; bar is well stocked and pleasant; but it is fine dining that is the outstanding feature here. It borders on elegant. It has more than ample staff which is quietly attentive. The service is faultless;... More

The atmosphere for dining is nice upstairs, but in the bar area below it is pretty loud at dinner time. We tried a few signature cocktails before dinner. Then I ordered the flank steak salad, but as I am not a fan of goat cheese I asked for a substitute of Feta. My husband ordered mussels. He said they were... More

How do you rate a restaurant that seems to care less with each successive visit, and when you have walked out? First of all, Firestone's is a loud and at times busy very long bar with beaten sofas at the ground level. Balcony tables overlook the bar scene from above with an interesting menu and some very good food. The... More

We went to Frederick on a rainy Saturday before Mother’s Day to have brunch with my daughter and her husband. We sat upstairs, next to the window, and it was charming. Our brunch was yummy and the drinks we had with it were tasty. It began to storm and we watched from our perch as the streets swamped with rain... More

We visited as a group of six for Mother's Day brunch. The food was excellent - we had the deviled eggs as an appetizer and I had steak salad for brunch. Everyone at the table was happy with their meal. We all had dessert and the brownie was one of the best desserts (including impeccably plated) I've ever had! The... More

While visiting Frederick we were recommended by friends to lunch at Firestones, and I'm glad we did. The atmosphere was nice, yet informal. We sat at a table on the second floor next to the windows which overlook Market Street. We found the menu to be extensive without being overwhelming, and (for me) the on-tap beer selection was excellent. The... More
