Description: Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

Dropped in on a Sunday afternoon while wandering about in Frederick. Heard the jazz band while walking by and this pulled mu small group in. Got seated after a short wait. All three of us ordered a different burger and had different beers and then we compared our choices. Found the jalapeno burger to be the best of the three... More

This is one of the only restaurants in, or near Washington (DC) that truly wants to please its patrons. The cooking demonstrates an uncompromising chef who gets the maximum flavor from superior ingredients. The menu is short, but every selection offers something out-of-the-ordinary. Great wine and beer selection, as well.

Sat at the bar for dinner. Bartenders were great - they asked everyone's names and were super friendly. As an out of towner, tap beers were great. Atmosphere was good - there is a classier feel to sitting upstairs over looking the bar. Food was extremely good. Would recommend! Cheers.

This was the second visit to Firestone's and I was just impressed with the food and service as the first time. We were there again for the Farm to Table week appetizers, meals, and dessert were all inclusive of ingredients from local producers. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about the food- we had reservations and were seated directly.

Firestone was positioned to us as a sports bar with upscale food. Not so much of either. Food was ok, nothing special. Oysters were excellent; crab cakes fair. Paid much more than we received in value.

Located on a busy street with galleries, stores and dining. Had live music during a weekend lunch time meal. The meals was very good, not spectacular. The staff adapted well to request for changes in menu choices. The meals was prepared quickly. Comfortable stop during time on this main strip. Upstairs seating gives you a view of the strolling district.

This restaurant had been recommended to me by friends so I decided to give it a try and have my small(party of 4)birthday celebration there. Everything about it was first class. We were given an upstairs table where we could people watch while having drinks and enjoying great conversation. A small jazz trio played live on the first floor which... More

Firestone in downtown Frederick labels itself as a "Culinary Tavern". It is certainly that and more. It has elements of a sports bar, but subdued; bar is well stocked and pleasant; but it is fine dining that is the outstanding feature here. It borders on elegant. It has more than ample staff which is quietly attentive. The service is faultless;... More

The atmosphere for dining is nice upstairs, but in the bar area below it is pretty loud at dinner time. We tried a few signature cocktails before dinner. Then I ordered the flank steak salad, but as I am not a fan of goat cheese I asked for a substitute of Feta. My husband ordered mussels. He said they were... More

How do you rate a restaurant that seems to care less with each successive visit, and when you have walked out? First of all, Firestone's is a loud and at times busy very long bar with beaten sofas at the ground level. Balcony tables overlook the bar scene from above with an interesting menu and some very good food. The... More
