dinner at Colonial Inn

Visited 9 years ago and then again in August. Had been looking forward to eating here. Seems like its not as cozy as it was and the menu has changed. The salad was ok - the drinks seem watered down. I was looking for a colonial atmosphere with comfort food, didn't get that at all. But it is... read more

Within the own Colonial inn there are restaurant and tavern available. There is a terraza in the front of the hotel where food is served. The menu is ok. The gazpacho is fine enough, comparable to the real one of Andalucia (Spain).

A meal at this historic landmark inn is always an enjoyable event. I have eaten here a number of times over many years. This time, we selected to eat here for a relaxed lunch during our visit in the area. Since it was a nice summer day, we decided to eat outdoors on the porch We found the food and... More

We stopped in for lunch and ate on the patio while touring the area museums and history. Such a charming setting, and wonderful wait staff. The burgers were over-the-top. They also have quite a few healthy selections. I had the special which was a California Burger - amazing. Most of the family had the Inn Burger, which they loved. If... More

We did not have a reservation, but wanted to eat in one of the Nation's oldest restaurants. We were able to be seated on the porch on a lovely July day. Our service and food were both good, the view and atmosphere were outstanding. The menu was fairly standard modern cuisine for a nicer restaurant. We'd recommend a meal at... More

We arrived for our 7:30 reservation. The place was not crowded, but looked to be understaffed. It was nearly 40 minutes before our wine arrived - after we had finished our starters of salad and chowder. You have to ask for bread. Most of the food was pretty good once it finally arrived more than an hour after ordering. The... More

I was surprised after a very nice lunch at Merchants Row restaurant in the Colonial Inn to find this not near the top in TA's rankings. Our food was excellent and very much in lin with the old, New England cuisine we were looking for. Service was attentive, very friendly and of average speed. Comfortable surroundings, redolent with the spirit... More

We sat on the patio. Even with cars whizzing by it was quiet enough to chat and enjoy the ambiance. Our server was great. I had the chicken pot pie and it was so so good. The pastry on the pot pie was some of the best I have tasted. The warm rolls and corn bread were also great. We... More

Had the pleasure of dining on the porch at the Colonial Inn after taking the Liberty Ride. Unbelievably delicious food. Great setting. Service was slow but the food and alfresco dining was so awesome we didn't care!

What a place! You can't get more "New England authentic" than this. We went for breakfast and then over to Wilson Farm. Classic and a great ambiance. Great Eggs Benedict, my husband really liked the Spanish Omelette, and my son LOVED the banana pancakes. And the home fries were some of the best I have had. The staff were warm... More
