I had a great meal here during the long MLK weekend. My friend and I had the tuna rillettes and veal and rabbit terrine to start and then the char and hake and mussels for our entrees. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. The cocktail menu was short but inventive and we both enjoyed our selections. The wines by the... More

I have dined here before and enjoyed dinner, but the Chef's Counter tasting menu experience is much better. Every course was imaginative and very tasty, and we enjoyed being at the edge of the kitchen with a good view of the action. The chef stopped by to introduce every course and answer any questions, a nice touch. The wine list... More

LOVE the place and the people! Best bar, bar food and fine dining anywhere! If I worked in Boston I'd take the train out to this gem for dinner, even if I lived in Boston! Drinks are always addictive! As is the food and new nibbles. ENJOY!

Three of us decided to come here for an impromptu celebration for the holidays. We couldn't get a reservation but we decided to try our luck at the bar and got there early. The food was delicious and the service was great. You can tell they take a great pride not just in the food but in the entire customer... More

This restaurant has it all together, and it has maintained that distinction since its opening. The interesting location on the second floor of an active depot, the interior spaces--comfortable, stylish, and with the right level of light, informed and unobtrusive wait staff--and, of course, interesting and creative cooking combine to create an enormously satisfying evening. All at a moderate price.... More

My wife and I have now dined at 80 Thoreau about half a dozen times since its opening. Each time we visit it gets better and better. The food, service, ambience and decor (which includes a lively open kitchen) are all exceptional. While not offering a huge number of entrees, those offered typically include meat, poultry, fish and a vegetarian... More

The food was grand, and the service was even better. If I and my dining companion weren't allergic to everything out of the sea, we both agreed the tasting menu, and wine pairings, would have been a delight. It's not inexpensive, and well worth experience.

80 Thoreau is a dining experience. The staff are fantastic. The bartender really knows his stuff and is a cocktail craftsman. The food is excellent. You can eat at the bar, as we did, or get a table. They don't take reservations so you have to get there early.

Quality, upscale restaurant that matches locally grown and harvested foods with an eclectic and imaginative menu. Located above an old train station, hard by the active tracks, the service is above notch, the food generally also above notch which makes for an enjoyable experience without having to drive to Boston

Even by my city-dweller standards the experience at 80 Thoreau is first rate. Try the lobster and chantrelle toasted gnocci for starters. Entrees are great but don't ignore their bar menu - the burgers are some of the best if you like simple perfection in terms of meat quality, flavor and juiciness and were listed in the top 10 best...
