Description: This is a popular local spot perfect for tourists, too (Concord is a big tourist town). Looks and feels like a hip diner, but the food, esp breakfast, is anything but.

This diner, with it's cheery pale yellow walls and periwinkle ceiling, leans upscale and is full of locals. The service was good and the food leans upscale towards diner fare. I had an ABLT--avocado, bacon, lettuce and tomato on fresh bakery made whole grain bread. There is also an option with lobster. The bacon was perfectly crisped and not greasy... More

This bustling place has standard american fare, which means lots of New England staples, mexican, french, you name it. And pie! I had a yummy beet salad. Nothing jumped out as vegetarian, but they have enough on their menu that it was easy to make something happen. They were busy and only take cash. Service was adequate.

If this was in a diner car, it might be more believable. As is, it's a store-front spot, pleasantly lacking of pretension centered on Main St., Concord, MA . Helen's is within walking distance of: The Old North Bridge (play Pooh sticks); the Butrick Mansion's collection of 18th centurey artfacts; and, although in the opposite direction from Helen's, The Louisa... It gets crowded at lunch. Try to be a bit early or late. Little, crowded, delightful servers. It has basic sandwiches that you count on, plus slightly fancier versions. My favorite is the tomato cheese and avocado grilled sandwich. We go there frequently. They also have lovely frappes/milk shakes. Try to save it for dessert, but sometimes you just have... More

Helen's has a complete but not overcomplicated breakfast menu. They make it easy to choose healthy, semi-healthy, or just over do it. Choices are easy to make and don't require much discussion. Waitresses fast, quick, and attentive. They charge enough to stay in business at an expensive place in downtown Concord, with easy free parking nearby. But not too much.... More

While touring the Lexington-Concord Battlefield, I worked up an appetite and ate at Helen's Restaurant. The place was packed, even for a weekday, so I imagine during the summer and on a weekend it would be crazy. Food was good, service was good, though it was a cash only shop which I found to be odd in 2014. Make sure... More

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, we stopped in for an early dinner. It was such a fun experience. We met people from all over, and everyone swapped travel stories and suggestions. Learned some cool history facts from a local resident. The food was excellent home-cooking. We had the meatloaf and a burger. Both were fantastic. The cherry pie was scrumptious! Not... More

Very friendly staff. Clean, if a little dated. Food was decent with a wide variety for a small place. We had a variety of sandwiches, wraps and chowder. There are several desert options and the pie was good. Both times we were in it was fairly busy. Don't expect a speedy experience. Reasonable prices and portions. They only take cash... More

Small, diner-like setting. The food was ok - we had fish & chips and the meatloaf w/ garlic mashed potatoes and dessert. The meatloaf and potatoes were on the bland side. Their blueberry pie and cherry pie were good, although the crust edges were a little tough. Service was very good. Prices very reasonable.

I believe that any restaurant can provide good service when they aren't busy. The standard for me is when they give good service when they are crowded--being "busy" isn't an excuse for poor service. We visited Helen's on Sunday--beautiful day, with several races for charity in town. We stood in line for only about five minutes before a table for... More
